Hmmm, Cloned?, You guys no more? want to share?
I heard CR II was being purchased...
GLR is very slow to communicate anything to me and I have paid a very substantial deposit.

So what is the deal with CR? I pretty much wrote them off after Double Venom's post a few days ago....

Quote:
Gentlemen, the news has come in and it isn't good-broke my heart. I too felt like I have been "lead by the nose" for a year only to find out last week all contracts, deals, financing to buy CR's is either "bull" or has simply failed. We are no better off than we were when Don was forced to close his doors.

Scarey59 - Sorry, I don't know anything beyond what I've read here on CC. Double Venom (Ed Combs) has been around a long time and has done a lot for the industry. Put a Viper engine in a cobra - hence the Double Venom and he's the one who started the original Spring Fling.

My first impression is as TB's - that GLR is a reseller/builder for CR II - which grew out of CR if I recall correctly. Given DV's very recent posts about the sale falling through and your post on getting a roller from GLR (whom I'd never heard of) I don't have a high comfort level. I could be wrong but it doesn't "feel right"

Sorry to say this but I'd suggest you get your deposit back ASAP, dig a little deeper into the stories and make a decision then.

By all accounts that I've heard CR did make a very good roller.

Doug

Scary59,
All I did was post a link to GLR. I have never delt with them. If you did make a deposit with Great Lakes Replicas for a Classic Roadster (he has other brands of Cobras on his web site) you might want to PM DV and find out any more information that he has.

GLR, i thought was trying to purchase or take-over CRII and that now to has fallen through. I know people who have been trying to work with GLR but have been unsuccessful getting parts or getting in touch with Terry up there. If it where me, knowing what I know now, having gone through some of these same issues with my build, I would pray you used a credit card (i didn't) and cancel the order. Even if you take delivery of the roller, if it is missing parts, you now have to hope other owners out there have what you need since the parent company looks like it has faild - for now, hopefully it comes back.

I hope everything works out. Once again, it points out the value in researching a purchase and doing the appropriate due diligence before writing a check. You just hope that people find CC so they can make an educated decision before pulling the trigger.

Thanks Guys. this is what i have been thinking for some time. I'm still hopefull as Bill Emerson was going to help out with a Chassis and Terry was going to take care of the engine tranny and most of the mechanics. So If Terry stays true to his word then I should be ok? I wired the funds so they're trackable but whether i get a refund is a whole nother question,,,,Man my wife will KILL me for this if Terry doesn't come through.
I guess ill keeep trying to contact him to find out his intentions?
Thanks Again guys you're great!

Just tell her you invested it all last year in an S&P index fund.
