Keep posting the photos Bill. I can crank my head sideways to look at them if they're upside down Just ribbing you a little. Been enjoying following your build.

Oh, so that's the problem. I thought that big flat thing sticking out the top of the monitor was an antenna but I guess it's the stand ! Now that I've turned it over I don't have to lean it against the wall any more. Thanks for the tip Ron.

Always glad to help Ted. Some of his pictures are upside down on the other site also and I have been trying to figure out why. I have set up a test account with the storage site he uses and so far all of my pictures that I load into it are right side up.

Finally got the engine in today but as usual hit a snag. We had to remove the trans because we couldn't get the engine/trans tilted enough to slide in. That's because Bruce move the firewall forward 6 inches. I'll have to install the trans from underneath on my back, a task I'm not looking forward to.

Bill,

Glad that you got the engine installed, sorry to hear that you will have to install the transmission from underneath. That is a lot of work. Do you have the tunnel installed at this point? If not, you might be able to have someone help from above you and assist with maneuvering and holding the transmission. On my build I was able to leave the transmission cross member in place and bring the transmission in form the passenger compartment with the tunnel removed. We were able to balance the transmission on the crossmember while I was underneath and then line the transmission up with the bell housing and get it in place.

Not sure if that will be possible with your situation. Those things are heavy and a pain to maneuver, even with a transmission jack. Good luck and be careful.

Jim

Jim
I plan to raise the car high on jack stands, place the trans on a floor jack, and then maneuver the trans into place. Going to try it by myself first. If that fails, I have a friend who said he would help.

Bill,

Good luck, be careful and let us know how it goes. Many a transmission has been installed in that manner. It is just a pain sometimes trying to maneuver it and keep it balanced given the tight constraints and weight.

Jim

Well done Bill. So the gearbox install went OK? Was it a one man job as anticipated?

Cheers

Installed a remote oil filter system and assembled -10 AQP braided lines and swivel fittings. Man, that stuff is a ***** to work with in such short lengths. A real PITA to route and tighten with AN wrenches.

But another task completed

Yes Bill, that stuff is a pain I hate working with it and my fingers still hurt from getting poked with stainless steel wire. Nice looking job.
