Bill,

You are making great progress. As usual, great workmanship. It will be a pleasure to see when it is done.

Dumb question--what are the pop-rivet looking things holding the sheet metal in place?

Those are called cleckos. They simulate rivets but are used to temporarily hold panels in place

Bill,
Thanks. Are they threaded with nuts, or like sheet metal screws?

Brake scoops installed. Not original but good enough

Bill, they look great and I doubt anybody is going to get down on their knees and assess if they are original or not. Are you going to leave them flowing straight through or add a deflector up towards the brakes? SPF suggests for their FIA's that if the car is being driven primarily as a street car that the owner consider placing foam or some other blocking material in the back of the scoop as the brake scoops serve no practical purpose in normal driving situations. In addition, it limits the amount of water and road debris that the scoop might throw at the brakes.

I am leaving mine open as it is going to be pure race, but might consider blocking them off if I had a road car. Then again, it never gets that hot up here in update NY. Maybe where you are or in some of the states closer to the equator a little extra cooling might be beneficial.

Keep up the great work.

Jim

Thanks Jim. Take a look at the picture again. You'll see red brake hose ducting that is attached to the front spindles. The other end of the hose that is currently hanging loose will attach to the scoops.

It's that time. Time to finally install the drivetrain. Hopefully next weekend after my transmission arrives next week

Today was supposed to be "the" day in which we installed the engine and trans into the frame. I came close to getting the engine and trans in, but was faced with several obstacles that prevented me from achieving that goal. I need to fashion some type of "sling" from tie down ratchet straps and a Harbor Freight load leveler. I fashioned something to get it off the engine stand for Today.

Sorry. Couldn't help myself.
