Thanks.
All the original fiberglass cars had them. Seriously, if the metal fuel inlet portion is securely fastened to an aluminum body, and the fuel tank itself is securely fastened to the frame via a conductor like aluminum and not leather straps, then the resistance of both those components are almost certain to be less than one ohm to the system ground. Glass cars like my ERA require a little more care.

I agree with Patrick....plus you need to ground the tank entry and the entry at the Flip Top gas Cap.

Also use a Check valve on the Vent on Both sides of the Fuel Cell.

Damn - you all made go look as I couldn’t distinctly remember doing that on my ERAs street fuel filler when I built it about 8 years ago. Peered into the trunk and didn’t see anything there. Then I reached in to feel for something I could tie a ground lead to and there it was on the backside of the filler leading down to the tank.

Would you have a picture of how ERA, or you have added the wire to your fill cap neck?

Thanks

Well, I keep forgetting this is the only auto forum I can't post pictures too anymore because I don't have a photo storage account any longer and can't paste from my computer. Basically ERA tacks a threaded stud to the down pipe section coming off the filler and a ground wire going underfloor to the frame or the tank. If you would like me to email a picture pm me your email.

Dan

This forum gives you like 100 megs of space to upload pics and I just looked and you haven't uploaded even one. Just click on the camera icon under your name on any of your posts and then choose "Upload Photos" from the upper right of the screen. It's really easy. I mean, really easy.

It should be pretty easy to find... unless it was forgotten. Here's a pic of mine. This is not my work, it was done by the elves at ERA many years ago. And by the way, I broke out the VOM and measured the resistance to ground on the filler cap itself both open and closed. It was as close to zero ohms as you can get.

And if you have a really sharp eye you will see that Bob P. actually labeled that ground wire as "66" and, sure enough, if you go to the ERA wiring instruction manual you will see that connection 66 is titled "GROUND FOR FUEL FILLER PIPE" and that black wire leads to the rear bumper bracket ground point.

The street cap is a little different although end result is the same. Mine is turned towards the outside and hard to see but I’ll see if I can get a picture of it.

You do nice work.

I like the seal for the pedals. I put something similar in the last ERA. This build is going to look more like what you did.

Very nice work Craig! I'm feeling like I should be reworking my pedals somewhat

Cheers!
Glen
