I am another LAE owner that is happy with my choice. I initially bought the LAE kit because it was a local manufacturer. After all the bad things I heard about some kit companies I wanted to be able to get face to face if the need arrised.
I had no problems in assembling the kit, it took 4 1/2 months. I did call LAE on several things but, it was only because I hadn't done one before and had some simple questions.
I have driven the car (40k miles so far) and am very pleased with it. I haven't had any manufacturer (LAE) problems. I did have to replace one wheel bearing, and a windshield or two.
I went for the 'no paint option', in red gel-coat. It has stood up for seven years now and still looks good. I have 30 trophies so far including best in class and best of show.
My car has never been on a trailer. We drive it anywhere and everywhere. We have had it on vacation (1800 miles to Idaho and Wyoming) six times. I have never had it on a track and have no interest in racing, I wanted and got a very reliable street car, the essence of a 427 S/C.
I designed and built a folding convertable top and have survived several severe rain storms and a couple snow fluries. The top is also nice on hot days in the desert to be in shade on long trips.
