Default Selling my Contemporary real cheap

Too many toys and some have to go. I'm selling it on Ebay 110029069007. Here is some additional info on it:

1965 Shelby 427S.C. Cobra by Contemporary Classic Motor Car Company

VIN: AZ174906

For those of you who don’t know about Cobra replicas Contemporary made one of, if not the best original 427 S.C. replicas. Check out ClubCobra.com and search on Contemporary Classic and you’ll see what I mean. The body was a perfect, mirror image of the original 427 S.C. Cobra because the mold was made from an original 427 S.C. Cobra body. The dash perfectly matched the original as well with all the gauges in the correct original places. The dash was mounted at the correct angle as well as opposed to many replica Cobras that are a dead give away as not having the original style dash.

Appears to have been professionally built in Arizona as it has an Arizona Assigned Identification Number. Car is currently registered in California with a clear title issued by the California DMV.

Build number is CCX-3-3408 which I think means it was originally built in the early 1990’s?

The cat is very loud and very fast. Way too fast for me. I call it my Harley Car. Loud, fast and very obnoxious—but oh so much fun and does it ever feel good to drive. Sometime when I drive this car I feel just like Dan Gurney racing the original Cobras at Riverside racetrack way back in the day.

I purchased the car about two years ago from a local seller in Irvine, California. Since then I have really been all over the car from a mechanical standpoint. It now fires right up, hot or cold every time. The car is incredibly loud with the side pipes (though I have some inserts to quiet it down a little that I normally leave out because I simply love the sound) and extremely, scary fast. Though I don’t know for a fact what has been done internally to the motor it obviously has been built up as you can hear and feel a somewhat lopey idle and a ton of raw horsepower. I had a 2001 ZO6 and this car would match it every step of the way. You really have to feel the brute power and great handling to really appreciate what I’m saying here. Words can’t simply describe the feeling of the noise and power when my Cobra wakes up. Like I say-- Scary fast.

Appears to have a small block 350 Chevy motor though it may be bored out as the motor truly runs like a raped ape. Chevy Bow Tie aluminum intake manifold (GM 140 4836 or 4886?) with a new Edelbrock Performer 4 bbl carb. Muncie 4 speed transmission with Mustang reverse mounted shift handle like the original had. New Powermaster Hi Torque starter.

Dual remote frame mounted oil filters with 10 quart road race oil pan. Fram (HPG1) remote mount race car Fuel Filter with replaceable element which was recently replaced. New fuel pump. New 18 gallon fuel tank, sending unit and rubber main fill tube connector. Has 3 ½” Lemans quick release fuel filler cap.

New alternator and newer Sears Diehard battery less than two years old mounted in the trunk with a remote race car kill switch also in the trunk. Trunk is lockable so it is easy to kill all power with the remote kill switch, lock the trunk and nobody is going anywhere with the Cobra.

New tires: BF Goodrich Radial T/A’s tires front: P235/60R15 and rear: P295/50R15. You read right, the rear tires are huge!

All new belts and hoses.

Jaguar XKE Series 1 front and rear independent suspension with front and rear disc brakes. Koni shock absorbers. Front and rear sway bars. New upper and lower front ball joints and new front wheel bearings. Steering rack appears to be Jaguar Series 1 XKE as well. Rides really nice. Not overly stiff.

New master cylinder, fresh brake fluid throughout.

Frame is 4” round tube 1/8 wall thickness. The frame is perfectly straight and true as I recently had a 4 wheel alignment done on it and the shop was very impressed. Radiator was recently boiled out and went through by my local radiator shop. Engine has a 12volt fan that never lets it overheat even when stuck in traffic.

Has a couple of very minor oil leaks. Dash panel has a couple of small scratches on the passenger side from people freaking out and trying to grab the dash when I’m engaged in excessive acceleration. Body has one or two very small nicks in it (see pictures) and drivers door has a small paint spot missing on the very edge. Bucket seats are showing a little wear but a little black leather conditioner will make them look like new as no tears exist. Otherwise car is in excellent condition.

Comes with complete convertible top assembly, side windows and toneau cover. Top is in excellent condition with very clear rear plastic windows. Toneau cover is in mint condition and was custom made to fit around the roll bar. Sliding Plexiglas side windows work fine though drivers side has a crack in the Plexiglas. Heater works just fine too. In the winter months it cools down quite a bit in the early morning and I like to take the Cobra out with the top up, side windows installed and heater on.

Have original Brochure on the car and copy of the build manual.

Why pay twice as much for very similar performance by buying a Superformance when you can buy mine for less than half the price? Why buy another replica when the other replica’s don’t come close in matching the originality that Contemporary was able to do. Look at the dash, look at the shifter, look at the bucket seats and interior, look at the body—everything is perfectly matched to the original 427 Cobra. Contemporary new what they were doing compared to the competition. If you want as close to “the real deal” as you can find, then buy my Cobra—trust me, you won’t be disappointed. My 100% positive feedback with over 200 positives is like that for a reason. Again, trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

maybe I missed it, but I don't see where you have mentioned a price for your car.

Sorry to say, but - I think the bowtie engine will keep the price way low.

Question Turnkey minus?

Take that chevy engine out of there, and list it over on the camaro/chevy board, where it would be more appreciated. Then sell your car as a turnkey minus.

E-bay item 110029069007, as posted above links to a red PORSCHE.

Wonder where the Cobra is, what reserve, hows the bid doing, etc. etc.

You guys might be right but I've got something like 77 watchers and 10 active bidders on it so far with a couple more days to run--I think my low reserve will get passed by and this baby is going to sell. Folks that know Cobras know that Contemporary built the best version back in the day. When you look in the engine compartment it doesn't say anything about it being a Chevy on the valve covers or anywhere else. I'm giving this thing away, somebody is going to get a great deal here. Wait and see.

Thumbs up

It may not have any Chevrolet labeling showing, but anyone that knows anything about Chevrolet and Ford will recognize it being a Chevrolet motor by the location of the distributor.
That being said, it is a nice looking car and I'm sure whoever buys it will be a happy new Cobra owner. Contemporary built very nice cars.
