Question How mechanical do I need to be?

How mechanical do I need to be to own a Superformance with a mild stroker engine? Do you need to be a wrench to keep one going? I would love to learn to work on cars, but I don't need a $50K paperwieight in the garage

I notice a lot of Superformance cobras with very low mileage for sale. Do alot of guys buy these cars and then gets buyers remorse? Driving on weekends (only half the year here in Colorado), how many miles do most guys put on one of these cars? Why don't I see cars with 20K miles for sale?

Thanks Again for all your imput!

If the motor is mild, it should be fine. Remember, it would essentially be a "new" car--drivetrain, body is fiberglass so rust is a non-issue, interior, paint are all new.

Low miles is common because they are more likely garage queens and only driven on weekends like most collector cars. I do not know of any "buyer's remorse" occurences in anyone I have met--other than they wish they bought one sooner!!

Call me at 303-979-4977 regarding some of your questions. I can put you in touch with a new Superformance owner that will also be able to help you. Note that you must be careful when bringing a car into Colorado to ensure that you can get it through emissions. Unless the car has an extremely clean title as a 66, for example, you may have problems if it has a late model block. There are a few Alabama registered cars running around that have yet to be re-titled in Colorado. A used car with a pre '74 block is no problem, however. Research this fully!

Default wrenchead requirements

HIQ,
If you opt for one of Reeds SPF capable for a 460SVO install, with a Dan R toploader, and a 9" Ford live axle setup, you will have about as carefree unit as one would want, with out any wrenching to keep it tuned. The above package could be fine tuned even further for more reliability by detailing. Power galore that will stay with a tempermental high hp stroker. The resale on the big blocks are better to. Superformance is a detailed highly finished item, better that some of your "build shops".

With the great advise I have recieved on this site, I am getting closer to making a decision. I think it is time to attend meetings with the Mile High Cobra Club. I pray the economy picks up and my wife keeps her job!

HIQ
I live in arvada and have a Superformance on order. I found a pre-1975 351 donor block and am having a 392ci/475hp stroker built locally. Give me a call and lets talk about SPF cobras - maybe we can get Gary Patrick to join us and answer all of our questions on Colorado registration/title technicals.
