I never said the main reason people used the service was for tax evation.
I guess my point was not clear. I will try again.
TU was a good service. It "allowed" owners to not pay taxes if they wanted to. The states went after the owners because of the taxes "some" of the owners did not pay, and sucked TU and other owners into it.
However, if an owner used TU and did not pay the complete sales tax, or registered their car as a 65 ford or some such to get away from "property tax" (we have that in Missouri), then I will call a spade a spade. The owner made a decision to do something that I as an adult would never do. Thats the way I feel, sorry.
