Semantics. Your car is a 1965 built in 1998. It is not built to standards required by the large manufacturers in 1998. You can call it a lookalike or a replica. Same thing.

, how did you interpret that as cheat the state? What I said is exactly the opposite.
You apparently are fortunate to have a state that gives exemptions to custom built cars. There are many states like that. But there are many that are oppressive.
