What do you think?? Would i be able to find an old replica for 10kish anywhere elce in the future??? Thanks- Ramin.

elgecko 02-06-2007 05:27 PM

Don't do it man....Something ain't right.

Raminman 02-06-2007 05:35 PM

Thanks for the reply, do you think 10k is too little for me to get a decent cobra replica, obviously one that needs TLC, but at least runs and stuff?

Excaliber 02-06-2007 05:38 PM

I don't know, but it sure looks worth checking out (assuming it's not a SCAM)!!!! Could be a distress sale, but the ultra low price does leave me thinking 'scam', as in it may not be the true owners car. Are you buying a picture based on hope?

Excellent deal if it is what it says it is.

wtm442 02-06-2007 05:39 PM

Too good to be true. I'd question whether its a scam. Does he really have a Cobra?

Contact Shell Valley about it and see if they can help.

Excaliber 02-06-2007 05:46 PM

There have been MANY such ultra low price Cobra ads on e-bay, and many of them 'busted' right here on CC. Usually a super nice car like a Shelby and a 'decent' price. This car seems 'almost reasonable' in it's specs for a 'decent price', could be the scammers are getting more sophisticated in targeting their market.

stush 02-06-2007 05:58 PM

If you can't visit the car or at least have a friend or someone you trust see the car and examine the papers, title, etc. I would personally walk the other way. As De Niro said in the movie Ronin,"whenever there is doubt, there is no doubt"

Ask the seller to fax you a copy of the title. It "may" not be a scam. But at that low price, I'd have someone from the LV Cobra club check it out first.

Raminman 02-06-2007 06:03 PM

Maybe this is a scam, sure, but would it be possible to buy a Shelby for around 10k, that is in decent working order?

double ugly 02-06-2007 06:16 PM

Try emailing a question. You get the fact that the seller is on another ebay site and doesn't speak the language

blykins 02-06-2007 06:19 PM

To answer your question, no.....I don't think you could ever find a Cobra that cheap.

Raminman 02-06-2007 06:19 PM

I did, i asked why so cheap, and if it had been previously totaled or seriously damaged. he has yet to reply

linklaw 02-06-2007 06:49 PM

This is an obvious scam. The "preapproved bidders only" and stupidly low price are dead giveaways.

stush 02-06-2007 06:50 PM

Get someone from a local car club to check it out. In answering your question, I do not think it possible to find a Cobra in working order for less than 10K. I do not know the going rate for a 390 crate engine but something ain't right.

Stu

Excaliber 02-06-2007 06:52 PM

AH HAH!!!! I missed the 'pre-approved' bidders thing, thats a CLASSIC technique when your pulling a e-bay scam. Looks VERY suspicious now!

Cheapest running Cobra I've seen (with a Ford motor) was an FFR for $17K, 'needs work'. :D

mrmustang 02-06-2007 07:03 PM

It's a scam auction...........What more really needs to be said............

Keep your change in your pocket............

RedCSX1 02-06-2007 10:00 PM

He also has no sales history. All the ffedback is from purchasing low price items to build up some feedback.

Tim Brewer 02-06-2007 10:23 PM

If you can't go purchase the car in person, don't even think about it!

STCinc 02-06-2007 10:32 PM

I sent an email asking to be added to the 'pre-approved' list of bidders. I dont want the car, but I just like to screw with scammers.
I'm amazed, NO reply.... Gee, go figure!
