Default Motor Mounts

So I am trying to install a 427 into a recently purchased Contemporary Cobra, but have run into a few roadblocks. The car originally had a 351 in it (which is long gone) and sat in a shop for 13 years without any attention. I purchased the motor mounts specified in the manual for the FE (Anchor Doan 2222 and 2223). However, when I put the engine in the car with the motor mounts, I am a good inch or more away from the mounting holes in the frame! I have tried the motor mounts in every direction imaginable without much success and flipped sides as the manual suggests (they look identical to me though).

Can someone with a contemporary and a 427 post a few pictures of the motor mounts and maybe a few measurements? Measurements that would be helpful are the distance from the x-brace to the motor mount riser and the distance from the hole in the motor mount to the riser.

Thanks in advance!
Drew

Check with Olthoff , for Poly motor mounts. Expensive but nice.
Same goes for this guy.

The Kirkhams make a nice pair too.

Do a search here, as there are many posts about engine mounts.

I'm pretty sure the motor mount pedestals on the frame are different from small to big block. I use the Anchor 58ish Thunderbird motor mounts from Rockauto.

Yeah, I think you are right about the BB vs SB. I'm hoping to confirm with some measurements before I start hacking up the pair of motor mounts that I bought to work.

We can get you through this. I can provide motor mounts for the CCX big block if you need them.
