86, Incredible doesn't even scratch the surface. If I were to print the private messages of hope and encouragement that Paul sent me back in the very beginning of this journey, only then would you understand the kind of incredible person he is. I've never met Paul, but even more important than getting the opportunity to see Goodwood is the chance to have the honour (the spelling is in honour of his British heritage! :D) of meeting Paul. I so look forward to that.

All,
Can you believe this? Paul, that's so cool, you have no idea how much I'm looking forward to this. Now all I have to do is fight to make sure I'm healthy enough to make it. I will do anything in my power to be thee, you can't believe how much I want to make it there. Goodwood has always been one of the things I want to do in my life, along with a trip to Yellowstone, Bonneville and the Reno Air races. Hopefully I can keep this a wish list and not a bucket list. Either way, it looks like the Goodwood part of the list is in good hands, and Paul, I can't thank you enough. I can't beieve that all of this is happening. Wow.

Hi Doug.

As I'm confident that you will be well for the Goodwood trip, I suggest that you think about extending your trip whilst in Europe - I will be happy to welcome you in Copenhagen... cruising in 602

You might even consider making it a "round trip" - I'm sure some of our fellow cobra fans down Europe will take good care of you as well. :)

As for Goodwood - If you take care of the flight, I will pick up the rest.

Take care
Henrik

PS: Hope you got my (your :D ) parts by now... - good luck with the building.

Not to worry!
Rick did an A+ job of delivering "Doug's Toy". Not a scratch, wrapped like a new born baby! Mrs. DV, Bobbie, (Our ACE Ford tech.) myself and Rick got his Toy unloaded and in the shop without a hitch!

Rick looked a little whipped, naturally, but couldn't be talked into staying the night or even getting something to eat. He left home the night before at mid-night and finally left my shop, again at mid-night, leaving Doug's Toy in my care. A little dusty but yet still a beautiful Blue,(with white stripes).

I'll try and get busier and get some pictures posted! All down hill from here! :)

A lot more to come.
DV

HI, Henrik! I had a CC member who works in the shop in question generously offer to gather up the parts and ship them. They should be on my doorstep tomorrow! I can't thank you enough again for the parts, it'll be a huge help in getting this car up and running. As far as Goodwood, I can't wait to go. Will you be attending? Hopefully you will and Paul and I can catch up with you. This is going to be a great time, I'm really looking forward to it. All I need to do is get healthy. Your generosity is so greatly appreciated! Hope to see you at Goodwood or later in Copenhagen. One of the few advantages left of working for the airlines is free travel so getting there is no sweat.:)

Whoa! What did I miss here, I thought this was happening tomorrow! Wow, you mean it's already done!:eek:Wow, I can't believe that Rick got it over there already. Rick, you're amazing! I can't believe the fuse is officially lit on this thing and it's all about to begin, I'm in shock - a wonderful, pleasantly surprised shock. Rick Lake, I have no words to thank you. You're one amazing guy.
DV, the patient is all yours now! I can't wait to see the progress. As I come home from my daily radiation treatments (starting in aprox. 4 weeks) they tell me I'm going to be sick as a dog. This will surely ease the pain as I watch the car progress. All of you who have played a role in this, I am just awestruck by your generosity and kindness, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. No one has EVER done anything like this for me, ever. Thank you all SO very much. I'm just amazed by all this still, and will be forever. Thank you all, to an amazing group of people. Thank you.
Doug

OK,

Two things to do, Get better of course! The second thing to do is grab one of those Military Pilots that you must know. Especially one that fly's a C-47 or the likes. Having a little experience about leaving a perfectly good airplane in flight I know they can "chute" your Baby right out the back over the UK. Wont even hardly feel a bump on landing! ;)

Then "Both" of you can experience the thrill of cruising the "Mother Land!"

48 hours

767 jockey Well Doug may work was easy compared to Ed's job. Carr looked great. A hair under 1,700 miles. Hit rain all the way from Ohio back to Jersey.
Ed is going to go through all the boxes of parts to see what you need to finish the car. Left NJ at 12:15 am and got back 1:30 am mon. Except of a truck with a trailer on fire, it was a quiet ride. Talk to you soon.

Clois Harlan 11-15-2010 08:47 AM

You're a good man Rick Lake!!

Thank you for all you have done in the past for anyone needing help. You may grumble about this or that but you really are a good guy and people know that. Thanks Rick for being yourself.

Hi Doug,

It will be my privilege.
If anyone else wants to come over, we can make it a "family" outing. :)
But you'll have to pay for your own tickets though I'm afraid.

Since it's been awhile, I thought I would update everyone on the funds we've raised so far and how they have been spent:

Total raised to date: $4,338

Distribution of funds to date: $2,950
$1,000 to Acton Custom for work done/being completed
$275 to DV to rent a trailer for car transport
$1,675 to 767Jockey to have on hand to pay for heads/other parts when he finds the right deal(s) - unspent as of now

Total balance remaining in account: $1,388

Plus LOTS of parts contributed.

You guys are all outstanding. :)

I made a contribution to Doug's build fund today after reading some of the posts regarding this effort. I'm new to the fourm and the Cobra world; I enjoy my car so much I just coundn't sit back and do nothing. Good luck with the build and I wish Doug a speedy and complete recovery.

Just to keep up with Doug's post/information, in case you hadn't heard, Doug's Cobra is here- safe and sound! I have two jobs that I have to finish before I get into Doug's Cobra. One is major and will be working on Doug's at the same time. The other one is minor-putting in a frame rail for our Ford guy, Bobbie, in a Capri. Got to keep your Ford Mechanic happy :)

I hope to show all the parts that we have by this weekend. I plan on taking a video and putting it on You Tube. Too many for individual photo's!

One thing I know DOUG would like is a authentic type SIDE MOUNT E-BRAKE ASSEMBLY WITH CABLES, BRACKETS.

Anybody possibly have one....OR know who carry's them?

Try Roger Bullock at 512 796 5999.

I have two very rare Cobra-Ferrari Wars T-shirts. One is red the other white. Both are XL and new. A good friend knew Mike Shoen quite well and was given the shirts years ago. Will sell to highest bidder for Doug. I will pay shipping in US. Email me for pictures. Won't upload to my gallery. They should be worth at least 50.00 each to someone into memorabilia. John

Sorry for the huge lag in Photo's/video. Seems my Olympus camera committed a Hail Mary! The LCD screen went out, leaving only a bright white screen. Still takes pictures, I tried without a 'viewfinder', downloaded to the computer only to realize very quickly that didn't work!

Soon as I get another camera (?) I'll start posting on Doug's car!

767Jockey 12-29-2010 02:02 PM

Ed,
Thanks for the effort to post the pictures. Unfortunately the only camera I am left with is in my telephone, or I'd send it to you.:LOL:

Awesome, Bill - thanks so much. How are you making out with your pursuit of a 289 car?
