Doug,

It's been a while, just checking to see how you are doing and how the project is progressing. Hope all is well with both

Last I heard, there were efforts under way to try to get some good heads that tend to be pricy that would tax the limits of the fund.

What about puting generic stock iron heads on, use the balance of the money collected for the fund to get the whole car finished so that it can be driven and enjoyed, and then at a later date, replace the stock heads with some whiz-bang heads of choice. The car will be fast anyway.

If it was me, I would want it done and driveable.

No matter how long you own a Cobra, they are always a work in progress anyway. But then, . . what do I know.

Good morning, Ed! You're right, while Edelbrock heads would be great it's just not in the financial cards right now. As I mentioned before, used ones, on the few occasions they come available, cost about the same as new ones. I may have a line on a serviceable set of iron heads, we'll see how that plays out.

In the mean time, it sounds like DV may actually be getting close to laying out the parts that were sent, inventorying them and taking some photos, and putting the list and some photos up here. I'm really eager to see that, as I have no idea what's up there. It'll be like Christmas in July, or August, or whenever....

So, DV needs to finish this up before the cold weather sets in up there again near the north pole around late August

Tim,
Things are going ok, thanks for asking and remembering. There's been some setbacks here and there, but overall I really can't complain. I keep a positive attitude, take each day as it comes and make the best of it. I haven't written much as I don't have a whole lot going on right now. I check in here every day to track everybody's build progress, looking on at Jeff's beautiful 289 car progress, RestoCreations beauty, and so many more. Right now I sort of live Cobra-wise vicariously through you guys. I'm on here almost every day, and as always I really enjoy reading up on all that you guys are doing to and with your cars.

As for my car, there's not a whole lot going on. It's pretty much where it was on the last update. Rick Lake so generously dropped it off at DV's place over the winter (NJ to western Michigan and back in one day and night!), and since then DV has been pretty busy and hasn't been able to get to it yet. I talk to DV occasionally, however not too much as I don't want to pester him. Last we talked he indicated that things were busy up there and he likely wouldn't get to the car until Spring 2012. I'm still incredibly grateful to him and to all the guys here on the Club Cobra for what was done and offered, whatever works for DV is fine with me. DV did say that once he gets another project or two out of the way he'll have space in his shop to lay out all the parts that all you guys have sent and take some photos, that'll be really neat to see, as I really have no idea what's up there and what was sent.

I have some parts here in Houston and some that I'm purchasing to replace some things that were on the engine I sold. I just emailed Brent Lykins to tell him what I need. The parts I have here and the parts I buy from Brent will be on their way to DV's place sometime this week. The two biggest dilemmas I have left are a set of heads (still!) and how to get the TKO600 transmission packaged so that I can send it from my place here in Houston to DV's place in Michigan. The original box and protective packaging are long gone in the shuffle. Anyone have any ideas on that? I keep my eye out constantly for a set of heads. I was hoping to score a set of used Edelbrock heads, but they rarely come available, and when they do the price is almost the same as new ones, and I just can't do that. I may have a lead on a serviceable set of Ford heads, we'll see if that pans out.

That's about it from this end, thanks again for writing, it's always great to hear from you guys. I'm just sort of keeping a low profile, waiting to get back to 100% and for the day when the car starts being built. What a terrific day that'll be to see that get going and to track it through the site here. Hopefully all of you who were so instrumental in helping that to happen will enjoy watching that as well.

I wish you all a happy and safe 4th of July weekend!

Doug,

I can help with one item ... I do have the TKO box

I just finished installing a TKO 600 into my ERA and I still have all of the original packaging. Send me a PM with the address where you want it sent and I'll ship it to you next week.

Glad to hear you are hanging in there, have a great 4th!

- Tim

Tim,
That would be GREAT! I'll PM you the address, please let me know ASAP what the shipping is and I'll get the $ on the way to you. I really appreciate that!
