I talked to him a couple of mins ago,,, he says he'll look through his "stuff" this weekend. I'm sure if he got one from Contemporary he still has it. He still had the original receipt for the windshield! Just in case,,,, what is planB ?

John, I don't even like to travel to California.... Fortunately we have more than a couple of guys on here who are close to being experts with the California DMV and Cobras. I did Google the checklist for registering a specially constructed vehicle in California http://dmv.ca.gov/vr/checklists/special_con.htm and it conveniently says (at least for a trailer) that you need "the Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin or a receipt or invoice identifying the kit purchased." It would be nice if the fella can find the COO, but I wouldn't get in to a tizzy if he can't. Not having the original COO is not the kiss of death.

This page http://dmv.ca.gov/vr/spcnsreg.htm would seem to indicate that they just want proof of ownership in the Statement of Construction:
•Proof of ownership, such as invoices, receipts, manufacturers’ certificates of origin, bills of sale, or junk receipts for the major component parts (engine, frame, transmission, and body).
