Default Contemporary Classic Owners 2008 winter projects?

Hey guys, CC is back!

I wanted to list my scheduled projects for the winter. We may be able to offer eachother advise or even help with details. Maybe others have perfomed these on their cars and have hints or watchful eye of things to avoid.

Order of priority:
1) Wilwood brake caliper conversion for JagI spindles. (adapters by Mickmate) DONE
2) Floor mounted pedal box as per CSX. This will be cool come show time and allow for new master cylinders. (Custom made by Mickmate) DONE
3) FE Pentroof valve covers for my Boss351, will look the part. (adapters by Mickmate)
4) FE style expansion tank for 351C
5) Add new G35 batteries behind passenger seat S/C style. (KMS style sealed dualies, DONE)
6) S/C the trunk and add a S/C aluminum gas tank....If time permits.

Hope to see you all at SAAC33

I haven't got the energy to list all that I need to do this winter.
Install FE and Tremec
Aluminum trunk and gas tank
Wilwood front conversion
Remove body for paint
New brake lines
Paint frame
Detail rear suspension
New suspension bushings
New wheels
Original type pedal box
Fluidyne radiator and oil cooler
New interior

....tell me when to stop.

While I'm at it, I need FE and interior parts. Any of you guys have stuff laying around that you want to move, send me your list.

Its a good thing I do not own a Contemporary Classic, then I could not go for rides when its semi-warm and the streets are dry.

Darn, I've got to go clean the 6 to 8 inches of dandruff out of the driveway.

Jeff - did you get 12 or 18 inches?

Warren,

You crack me up!
Sounds like you are still running? I am down for the cold, no heat or top puts a damper on the winter cruise. Too much salt anyway......

Sounds like you are doing well, time to post another winter drive on video!

About 12" of the white stuff today.

Jeff
Thanks for the reminder. Just added a video from last week to my video thread, now that the main site is back.

One of these days I'm going to work on the Cobra. But everytime its nice enough to work in my unheated garage, its usually good enough to go for a ride.

Well looks like I'm replacing the the predator black panther battery with a new Odyssey dry cell battery. The guy was a hell of a builder but did he have to build the car around the battery??? LOL It's in the trunk in a custon built battery box, thank god he put heavy duty wire ties around the old battery or I would have never gotten it out. From what I read on here, FE's don't like starting in the cold weather anyhow.

Jeff how much work was involved in the pedal set-up? How does it work and feel? You may see my post from today about my brake issue and this could be "an" answer. How much was the pedal project, so I can start breaking the news to the little lady...

Well, now that it's cool enough to drive, I think I'll spend more time with the pit crew at Hooter's.,.,.,or something. I need to :
1. pull the fuel tank and replace it with a bladder tank.
2. sell the hardtop so I can buy a new rag top.
3. Go through the suspension and figure out why the front end hops sometimes.
4. Calibrate the fuel gage. (Does anyone have one that works right?)
5. Replace the pinion seal.

That should do it for the first weekend.. We'll see after that.

Dan

Ever consider an aluminum tank via ACE? Dual pick ups and A-1 workmanship. He can even add the ribs as original 60's cars have. Jeff did not get that.
Jeff put one in, see his gallery! SWEET

Hey, that's my car. Nice tank built by Nick Acton.
My winter project is:
1. Replace my mismatched 390 heads with Edlebrock FE Stage II aluminum heads from Keith Craft Racing.
2. Erson roller rocker assembly.
3. Replace Holly carb with a Quicktime 750cfm carb.
4. Replace cam if needed.
5. Replace oil pan with a Canton oil pan with 8 quart capacity.
6. Replace faulty Smith tach.
7. Replace faulty Smith oil pressure gauge.
I'm sure to find other things that need fixin while I'm in there.

Dan, I've had two Smith fuel gauges and neither one is accurate so you're not alone. Does any one have a suggestion for better, more accurate gauges that looks the part?

Jeff, I just stumbled across an old Contemporary bladder tank just like the one that was in 3209. I am amazed at how clean it is. Never been installed. Still in a box marked Burtis..

Now, I still need to know the pro's and con's of the differnt types of shocks that everyone has tried. I think the Konis that are in the red car are kind of like me. Old and tired.. Maybe in need of a bit more spring. So how about sharing opinions?

Quick tank sender related question do any of you guys run the inductive tube type sender? They're supposed to be better but I haven't run one myself. My cars a little dusty and icey.........Thanks lads for the kind words. Dan that was a super score, I'd be happy to put a skin in one of my tanks but was quoted $2.5K for just the skin on the big 42 I just built. http://www.clubcobra.com/classifieds...t=1629&cat=500 Jeff N better not look at it or he'll be sending his back to have ribs stuck on the outside............

Hey Nick, I love my tank. It holds a lot of fuel and it doesn't leak. What more can a guy ask for? Plus, it looks pretty damn good.
Hey, you want to come to Chicago for a visit and put some floor mounted pedals in my car??????

Hi Jeff let me think about that. Maybe if we put an Actonmade pan on that list too we might be getting closer to a worthwhile trip. Better than a Canton http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/s...=62377&cat=500 That thing has capacity, trap doors, windage trays, baffles etc. You know anything you get comes with good support instructions pictures etc anyways. We'll see ya right!
