Another Contemporary for sale on Ebay

This car looks to have coilover shocks and torsion bars. I have never seen this. What's the point? To bad it has a Chevy motor and automatic trans. Will hurt the value big time.

Detractions (my personal opinion for what it is worth):

Chevy engine
Automatic
Funky hood scoop (done for clearance, yes, I understand)
I do not see the torsion bar front end as a detractor as I know several who race their Contemporary Cobras and three out of the four have torsion bar front ends.

I'm not saying torsion bars are a detractor. I'm saying why would you have both torsion bars and coilover shocks on the front end.

I stand corrected, when viewing the pictures on Ebay the sun showed through and I mistook this light for a polished torsion bar. When tweaked in photoshop (mostly brightness and contrast) it clearly shows that no torsion bars are in place.

If you look at the pictures again you will see the hanger for the back of the torsion bar on the opposite side of the car and there is definately a bar attched to it.

I do not see a bar attached, not even with enhancements to the pictures. I do see what should be a bar, but turned out to be the angle of light between the sidepipe and the underside of the chassis. Will check it at home (where the monitor is a higher end color correcting one) to confirm this evening.....

It has no bar as it is a coilover. It is an illusion as the bar is really the lower control arm bar.

CCX cars are great replicas, yes I am bias.

I could buy an ERA and add a bowtie and w/auto. It isn't the manufacturers issue; more like the builder.

I must be seeing things then. This car is clearly a torsion bar car, it has no X brace in front of the radiator and what is that nut and threaded rod sticking out from the lower control arm hanger on the frame. Also if you look at the passenger side suspension picture and look across to the driver side you can see the back hanger with a bar attached.

Rich, if this is the pic;

then I think you're looking at the lower A arm mount and the driver's side side pipe right on the other side of it. No torsion bar.

Thanks for blowing it up. I can see it better. I thought the back control arm hanger was the torsion bar hanger. Bad angle I quess or the eyes are going. Does anyone know why there is no X brace on this car? Was it an early conversion to coilover? I have 2 frames 1 early torsion bar frame and a later coilover frame. The coilover frame has an X brace to support the coilover design. I have never seen coilovers without the X brace. Has anyone else?

I believe it does have the cross-brace. You can see parts of it in this picture.

Ive never been able to understand...What is so good about development kits, what do you do with them? Can you develop games or software or what? Im just curious because people spend like 500 bucks on these things and I dont really think they are that significant. Maybe I just havent researched them enough or something like that.

My point exactly, if you don't have the torsion bar suspension, why would you want the development kit anyway. I'd just make a pair of planters out of 2 used bone color toilets. They'd look great surrounding the bird bath in my mom's garden.
