spark plug help

hi all,
i know this may be a tough question without knowing how the engine was built and what was put into head work and cam but we took plugs out of my fathers cobra that were motorcraft asf52c and they were all black. it doesn't have a monster carb on it but it does have a pretty "lopy" idle. it is a 351 W. does anyone know or recommend a good plug to start with?

Start with one that will dial down the mixture. Sounds like it's running way too rich. THey should run tan to dark brown. I run NGK. If it has an electronic ignition, don't run platinum plugs as it will redistribute the platinum.

I use Autolite standard copper core plugs in just about everything. Cheap, reliable, durable, and easy to come by.

Don't waste money on fancy platinum and Unobtanium plugs. They're expensive, and don't work any better.
