Default Daytona Coupe photos or reference books

Hello,
I am looking for a book or website that would have pictures of the 6 original Daytona Coupes fro the 60's. I have been commissioned to do a piece of art 3'x4' depicting all 6 cars. I have scoured the web and found some nice pictures but am unsure if these are the genuine cars. I was given some details by my customer as far as chasis numbers and races. But I have a few questions. Were they all blue? I have a photo of the one that was just the unfinished metal, was there a white one and a red one? Any help from the members of this forum would be greatly appreciated. You can email me at kkoene@charter.net

If you can locate a copy; Daytona Cobra Coupes some 500= pages on the entire history of the six original Daytonas. Copies are sometimes available on e-bay, but very expensive! Original copies, when new, were about $125 in "unsigned versions. The fully autographed copies (all drivers and crew) were about $400. Good Luck!

I don't recognize the white one, but am familiar with the Red ones history (as it relates to Ferrari for ONE race).

So,,,whats the deal on the white one?

THe car is from Nurburgring, May 23 1965, driven by Jo Schlesser & Andre Simon

This was the only time that a Cobra Daytona Coupes was painted with a white body finish with blue and red stripes. Chassis CSX 2300 was leased from Alan Mann by Ford of France for this race only. It competed in the national “Tri-Colore” of France. Well known French drivers Andre Simon and Jo Schlesser drove this coupe at the very tough Nurburgring course. The car finished 3rd in the GT III category, and 12th overall. After the race, this white coupe was returned to Alan Mann Racing in England where it was repainted in the official Guardsman Blue metallic and white stripe of the 1965 Shelby American team.

This exact picture was a commissioned piece for a private collector. I would be willing to draw another and make prints from it if there is enough interest.

Ha!! Oh yeah! I have the book - autographed by the 43 crew members and drivers. Actually; I sold several on eBay the past couple of years, and shipped them all over the world. Only 400 produced (the signed version), and they area all numbered. My personal copy has never been opened. Shrink wrap is still on it. One that I sold went for $600.00. It is an amazing book, for sure. It weighs over 5 lbs., and is enclosed in a special slipcase. Each of these have a Cobra chassis plate affixed to the inner cover with the books s/n etched on it (xxx/400).

One of my prized models (chassis #2299 by Exoto).. note the 'Dan Gurney for President' bumper sticker - autographed by him.

Do I own a Cobra, or a replica? No. I just dream about it. I live only five hours from Unique Motorcars (Gadsden, AL), and have visited their shop. I also love the 289 FIAs. They build a nice one.

Personally; I drive a 2003 MAZDASPEED, that is boosted. For the money; it's fantastic!! It's one (production #38) of 1,150 in the world in Black Mica finish.
