Question Original coupes

I was watching the show, "Behind the Headlights" last night and it seemed like every time they showed a Daytona Coupe it was painted Dark Blue with white stripes.

Where all six original coupes painted that way originally, then painted other colors later?

From what I understand, all of the Daytona Coupes were painted the same color. I believe the color was Guardsman Blue, I think that the lighting at the time the film was shot wasn't that great, causing the blue to look darker.

Um, I think they were mostly painted viking blue with thin stripes for '64 and then guardman blue with wide stripes for '65. But there were some differences. Like the one lent to Ford of France to be run at LeMans. I think that one was red with white stripes. And wasn't there a white one with blue stripes too? If I was ambitious enough, I could take a look through my book on Daytona Coupes and check it out.

Different shades of blue were used, from the very light, to the very dark. One original Coupe was painted red right from it's inception.

Ford of France coupe was white with a blue center stripe and 2 red stripes.

Only red coupe I've ever seen in any of the books is the Wilment coupe.?

By '64 I believe Shelby was painting all the team cars Guardsmen Blue to appease Ford management. ?

I wasn't there so what do I know

All of the Daytonas were Viking Blue in '64. CSX2300 was white with blue stripes for Nurburgring on May 23,1965.Csx 2601 was always Guardsman Blue.CSX 2602 was Guardsman Blue until June 19 - 20 for Lemans and was the famous red then.If anyone would like a coupe built with any paint scheme used contact me and I'll be happy to help

According to sources in the know, during it's restoration, as the Wilment coupe when stripped of it's four different coats of paint, supposedly the original base color was red, then blue, then red again. But I personally connot confirm or deny this tidbit.

The red Willment Coupe was not a Shelby Daytona Coupe, although it carried chassis number CSX2131. It was built by Jon Olson for Willment. The red Shelby Daytona Coupe was CSX2602, "the Scuderia Filipnetti coupe" ,raced at Lemans in 65, in red. This car was guardsman blue for all it's other races.

So, were there 7 or was the Willment counted as part of the original 6?

There were only 6 Shelby Daytona Coupes, They were all built by Shelby American. The Willment Coupe was built by Shelby employee Jon Olson, from memory, without plans in England. ALL Sheby Daytona Coupes began life with either Viking Blue or Guardsman blue paint. CSX 2300 was painted white for one race, and CSX2602 was painted red for one race.

Only 6 original Shelby Coupes. The Wilment coupe was built in(?) England and modified from the original coupe design, campaigned there and Europe.

I forgot about the Flipenetti coupe being painted red
