Smile Coach Mike's Coupe

We picked up the Coupe body from the paint shop Monday. Tommy will paint the hood and doors this week.

We hope to have it ready to drive to the LCS 08.

May the Force be with us

Dwight

Had to mold the spoiler because is was so warped up. Mike wanted to install it with button head screws but the body man talked him to molding it on. Next is the head liner. We have a guy coming by to look at that tomorrow. Then the windshield, rear glass, interior. We had the seat modified so they would fit. We are looking for another master cylinder today.

You know kits, they just bolt together like ???

Yes Dwight the force is with you (whatever your completion date). She looks very nice; what is the exact color?

Coach and Dwight,

I installed this brake system on my coupe and so far I have been very pleased.

Smile The Coupe

Coach and I got a lot done today on the Coupe. Headers, master cylinder and wheels installed. Painted the calipers chassic black and got them back on the car. Started on the rear lights, should finish that tomorrow. Set the ride height. Put one header on and then had to take it off so we could move the steering shaft. Had to make a rod for the master cylinder. Coach bought a different one and of course it did not "just" bolt in.

Six weeks till London Cobra Show

This new brake control system looks very original. It will be interesting to have your comments after tests

Smile Coupe update

I got the taillights and the tag bracket / light, rear hatch gasket installed. I'm going to make a new frame for the rear glass.

Coach installed the gas cap, hood gasket before he had to leave for Gulf Conference baseball play offs starting Saturday in Memphis, Tenn. Talk about mixed emotions, win a division championship or finish the Coupe.

Coach bought aluminum foil peel and stick insulation. I installed it on the firewall and on the sides back to the doors. We will wait till the head liner is installed to finish the rest. It is a heat and sound deadener, 12" x 20" thin aluminum foil / rubber stuff, $5 a square foot. I did not look at the name on the box, I just put the stuff in car. But I like it.

I bought the smaller firewall mount master cylinder #10-59 through ABS for around $900.

I mounted the charge unit on the cross member in front of the engine. I really like the feel and braking of this unit, the pedal pressure is very light and the stopping power is as good as any new model car. The only thing you notice is when you turn the key switch on there is a electric motor running for a few seconds as the unit charges itself.

We got the side pipes on. Had to add a 3/8" spacer on the driver side and 1/8" on the other side to get the clearance we needed for the side pipes. Bled the brakes. Reworked the upper radiator hose. Installed the on - off cable for the heater. And a few other small things. We dropped by and checked on the hood and doors. Mike has a guy coming over Tuesday to look at doing the head liner. We hear he is very good but slow.
We don't need no stink'in slow, but we'll see.

Smile update on the Coupe

I'm working in Lancaster, PA for a couple of weeks. Before I left, Coach and I took his Coupe to the interior shop. Ricky told us it would take about 3 weeks to finish. I talked to Coach yesterday and he did not have an update on the Coupe. It looks like to Coupe will not make it to the London Cobra Show. Coach Mike will cut the plexiglass for rear window this week but will have to wait till we get the car back to finish fit the glass.
