Default Toploader questions

I have a HEH-CL Toploader I just recieved,
1.] How hard would it be to convert this to big in big out?
2.] Is this even possible?
3.] Out of curiousity is there major differences in the cases between the small and big input and output shaft cases?
4.] Is big in/out needed for my situation?
it will be a 1968 shortbox Pickup and behind a 410 estimated weight about 4000lbs 3800gvw+driver. The 410 will put out just under 500 ft/lbs of torque and I may play with medium sized shots of nitrous 200horse max.
5.] Will changing the intput or output shafts require changing the gears too?

Thanks for your time,

Caleb

To change to a big in/out you will need a 1 3/8" modular input shaft, 1 3/8" bearing retainer, 31 spline output shaft, 31 spline tailhousing. Everything else is the same. Judging by the weight and hp you are talking about, and especially the nitrous factor I would upgrade now.

What kind of prices am I looking at for that stuff? and also is the 31 spline tailhousing a lot more expensive for the short version? I just ordered a V-gate and ordered the install kit for the shorter tailhousing. I imagine I'd also need a 31 spline yoke too...

24" 31 spline tailhousing $250 (The same shifter will work)

Are you open tomorrow? (12-24-01) and how late if so? I'm not running the 410 yet it's still in pieces needing machined. but I'd kinda like to get the tranny in behind a 360 already in the truck so that I can get the driveline worked out with new driveshaft etc... that it'll need I'm trying to get everything done that I will need before I put the engine in so as to avoid breaking too much stuff with the more powerfrul engine
