OK I'm IN!
Jack, sounds good to me, I'll be there with Trudy. We will drive the Cobra on down. Can we do street drags out in front?
(Just kidding!) I'll have my new engine by then and you will have yours!

Jack,
I'll definitely be there. I can make a fruit salad like I made last time or something else if you prefer. Lots of time to let me know what you need.

Being a Georgia boy not to familiar with Florida - would you be so kind and give so general idea of where the location is in relation to Atlanta?

Captainjack,
I think you should post this on the CobraForum also if you want to get to our membership, I can send you a copy of our membership list if you would like to email them.
WD, Baker is in the panhandle of FL.
I would like to attend but it's a little far for a one day event, unless I come up that way to visit my relatives in that area.

Hi WD,
Baker, on Fl state roads 4 & 189, is 300 miles SW of Atlanta (240 of those miles are I-85 & I-65); 35 miles N of Ft Walton Beach; 45 miles NE of Pensacola; 10 miles NW of Crestview. It is about 5 hours from Atlanta.
We live on a small farm, if you want to camp there is plenty of room. There are also several motels in Crestview. A good way to make the Bar-B-Q would be to get a room on the beach (Destin or Ft Walton) for the long weekend and plan driving up Sunday for the cookout.
We hope to see ya there.

Jack, It just so happens that I'm going to Destin that weekend for a long over due vacation. I'll check with the wife and see if I'm allowed to go. I think it would be a lot of fun but I will be with out my cobra. I hope a Taurus is OK??

Labor Day Bar-B-Q (Sunday) is less than 2 weeks away.
OK Guys & Girls,
We are still hosting the Labor Day (Sunday)DSCC pot luck Bar-B-Q. It's time to commit. Let us know (e-mail captainjack@cyou.com, by posting here on the forum or by phone 850-537-4443) if you are going to attend and what you are going to bring.
We will supply the chicken and have arranged for our local chicken man to cook (this guy is a chicken cooker expert). We will also supply the ice, paper plates & stuff like that. And, the pool & hot tub. (We won't let Chicken Man in either)
We even have a friend bringing her famous Kaluah ice cream. Maybe if you don't attend it will mean more ice cream for us!!!
Our own DSCC El Presidente will be here with his new engine from Southern Automotive. A master Ford mechanic will be here to answer all your questions. And, we have a pretty good backroad cruise planned if you are so inclined (about 50 miles).
Oh yeah, did I mention beautiful weather. Yes the 5 weeks of afternoon washouts appears to be over. This means the grass will slow down and I won't have to spend time mowing instead of partying!
Anyway, enough rambling. Come on out and join us and the 5 Cobras we know are attending.
See ya soon.

Regrets
Capt'n,
I'm a new member from the TampaBay area. Wish I could, but am taking the "little lady" to visit friends in Ft Lauderdale, for Labor Day. You might say I'm accumulating "good boy" points to redeem at will, when I take delivery of my Unique FIA, in October. However, wanted you to know that the new kids are listening also! Thanks much.

Sorry you can't make it.
Hi FIAFred,
We'll do it again later. I've just put the wet t shirt contest and the Las Vegas girls on hold. Maybe we'll get enough people next time to reschedule them.
I guess we will have to be content with talking Cobras, eating good food, taking a winding N Florida drive and relaxing in the hot tub.
We look forward to meeting you guys soon. Possibly at the Gainesville track.

DON"T CANCEL THE GIRLS YET
Hey Captainjack,
If my "RSVP REGRETS" was the deciding factor in whether the wet T-shirt contest and showgirls were happening, don't make that call yet! I don't want any of my "Cobra brethren" to suffer, and be pissed at me! I suppose that I could tell my wife that an emergency has come up, and I've absolutely got to make a trip to the panhandle. I've got to keep my priorities straight!! If for some reason my emergency ploy does not pan with my baby, then Cobra talk, good food, and fun, will have to be the order. Talk about settling for seconds; but I feel safe you guys can handle the chore!
Fact is, Unique is planning to trailer my FIA to Gainesville for the October gathering, and I should have the pleasure of trailering it home. That's when I will get up with you guys. Any chance Alan with Unique could drop through the panhandle on his way to Gainesville, and trailer the wet T-shirt contest finalists to G'ville? Just asking!!

BBQ PotLuck List???
Jack,
Have you made a list of what you'd like each person to bring to your BBQ on Sunday? I think this would be a big help so everyone doesn't bring a lettuce salad when you also need chips, sodas, beer, etc.
Here's some suggestions for a start:
Chicken = Jack & Cindy Flanders
Plates, utensiles, ice, mustard, etc. = Jack & Cindy
Kaluah Ice Cream = friend
Fruit Salad = Jerry Cowing
Potato Chips = Jerry Cowing
Sodas =
Beer =
Potato Salad =
BBQ Beans =
Corn on the Cob =
Bean Salad =
Jello Salad =
Taco Salad =
andouille (cajun sausage) jambalaya = Lee Tilton
Cake, Bread & Ice Cream = Kim Crockett
etc., etc.
How many people are coming so we know how big a dish to make?
Instead of what I listed next to my name, if you'd rather I bring one or two or three of the other items on the above list or something not listed, please let me know by Friday so I can make a trip to the store.
See you Sunday, Jer
