I have to run up to the Orlando area next weekend but it will be for a wedding. I always stop by at Old Town on a Saturday nite if I'm in town but I will miss that also because of thw wedding. I know Joe Smith is planning something at Old Town but since summer(to Hot) is on it's way, I'm sure it will be later in the year. I'm thinking of having something in southern Florida soon because of the over 250 members in our club over 100 are here in Florida. I will be busy going to Ohio in June for DVSFII. I'm only about 3 hours south of the Orlando area and hope I can get guys from your home town area to come on down to the really Deep South. Hot weather doesn't really bother me, that's why I moved into Florida in the first place. I also have my house air-conditioned and a swimming pool out back. I was thinking BBQ and a cruise. Give me your thoughts.

Party Party Party
Ed,
I think it should be a couple of months away, only so everyone gets a chance to see the notice of the Cobra party. Since I’m putting it on, it will be down here in Cape Coral. It will start early and go on for most of the day, until you feel you would have to leave to get back home. If someone thinks they would like to make it longer I would look into a Motel for the night, since snowbird season is over for a while you might be able to afford the Motel price. I could put together a BBQ lunch or we could make it part of a cruise and eat at a restaurant. If we have a lot of people interested I would make reservations. There are a few guys who live in the Cape with Cobras (DSCC members) that I would call and invite. I want to make sure John Phillips is up and running and can bring the guys in from the other coast, it took me 3 hours from my house to his, to see his build. I’m mainly interested now in some input and see how much interest I can get. If this work’s out we could do this a couple times a year and move the party place. Whether I plan on the BBQ or we go out, I would still need a show of hands to see if this is something to run with. Jerry just tried to have a party and only had one response and had to cancel his Cobra party. I’m going to call later and cancel my airline tickets to Foley Alabama. I’m actually leaving open the date but think starting in July forward would be a good place to start. Give me your input so I can start the ball rolling.
Dan

Dan,
We have to look at the location so it can be attended by as many as possible.
Having it way down south may be a problem for some folks.
Find out what geographic area has the most members and lets try and use it to our advantage.
We all know how the FTD weekend was a flop this year.
We need to find a location that is easy for most of us and see what type of croud it draws.
I'm not afraid to travel so it's no problem for me.
I'll help with the planning, just let me know what you need me to do.
A Bar-B-Que sounds great. Add in some recreational activities and lets make a day of it.

Ed,
I just counted up our membership and we have 111 Cobra owners or enthusiasts in the state of Florida. If they come from Pensacola it's a 9 -10 hour trip but from Orlando and directly across the state your talking about 3 hours or less. Since I'm throwing the first party it's in my backyard, anyone that shows up at this party can have the next one and pick the spot. The secret to making this a success is time and getting the word out. Do you know the 2 other people listed that live in Valrico? I'll look at my calandar and pick the date.

Dan,
I have spoken to both of them over the phone.
I don't believe we have ever met.
Now isn't that pathetic???
They both live a mile from me and we have never gotten together.
I made an attempt a few months ago, but both parties were busy at the time.
Now it's so damn fricken hot, I'll be lucky to get them out of the house.
We had a local sports bar hosting a Thursday night car show, and recently they went out of business.
I'll check to see if the new owners are open yet and if they still host a car show.
This will give us an opportunity to get together.
If you host this years event, I'll do the next one.
Tom Jones and I can possibly get an auto-X together at a local parking lot.

I signed up 2 guys that live in the Cape and 1 in Fort Myers and I also have not seen them since. I know if we become friends and not just club members this thing will grow. The moto- cross that John Phillips comes across the state to run is 18 miles from my house(June-July-August closed to HOT). There is a 1/8 mile drag strip (IHRA) about 40 miles away in Immokalee but you know if you turn in the 12's in a 1/4 (7 or 8 in 1/8) mile you need a drag Cobra. I thought for the first time a BBQ, BS, and beer and a swim in the pool. Cruising the islands or what ever would be a nice day. The main thing is to get as many guys together as possible and take it from there. Theres a large waterpark located in the Cape if the wife wanted to come with the kids. Another big draw is the Edison House in Fort Myers.

Joe Smith,
When are you going to be back at Old Town? It would be nice if you came up with a date and I would push it at my Cobra Bash on August 10,2002 so we could really make it Cobra nite at Old Town.
