Unique Open House
Is anybody going to "Unique" this week. Since I am still stuck in the planning stage I plan to go over Friday morning and see what the Weavers offer. :) I have heard nothing but good when it comes to their cars.
|
GS,
Good things are all you're ever gonna hear when it comes to the Weavers. I spoke with roughly 20 Unique owners during my researching and none of them ever had a bad thing to say (part of the reason I chose to do business with them). Even when someone was selling one of their cars, they only had good things to say. I know a few of the DSCC guys are going over there this week (part of the reason it's so quiet on this forum this week). I can't make it, but I wish I could. Be sure to tell the Weavers I said hello! I can't remember... have you decided who to use for the engine build. You know, Southern Automotive is in your area. Keith :) |
Engine
I will most likely go with Southern, nearly all comments have been positive. If I build an FIA it will be a 351, if I go SC ????
|
GS,
Amen to what Keith has said about the Weavers. They are top notch people to deal with and their kits are excellent. You won't go wrong with Unique or Southern Automotive for that matter. Charlie |
Question marks? What's with the question marks? If you go with the S/C, it's a requirement to use a big-block. I think there's a law about that or something. Just ask Bill, he'll tell ya!
Keith :) |
Nahhh, you think he really has that STRONG an opinion on the big block thing **) **) :D :D
If you brought an S/C with a small block in for service at his place, you'd likely find it would be replaced with a FE at time of pick up, no extra charge, due to "religious principles". :D :D |
Who Said Anything About Small Block
EEEEEEYYYYYYOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEE!Toy Collector is trying to convert me :3DSMILE: :3DSMILE: After the ride I was **) **) then my son got religion and he was all :3DSMILE: :3DSMILE: . Thanks Mike ! If all of the DSCC guys are like Mike I need to get my A$$ in gear and join the fun group. By the way what's a small block?
|
I plan on being their on Friday.Alan said that my they might have my car complete by next week. I'm looking forward to seeing all my parts this week.
Look around but I'll bet that like myself you wont be able to find any better products or people than the Weavers and Parham's. Hope to see you there, Eric Miller |
Mike - Bill opinionated? Surely you jest! LOL! I've already caught some heat for deciding not to paint stripes. (All in good humor, of course.)
GS - LOL. We'll have you converted before long! Be sure to join us for donuts and burgers on the 18th! (see other thread) Eric - I'm still at least 7 weeks and 4 days from delivery (not that I'm counting or anything). Man, it's gonna be a loooooong summer. Tell them I said hi! Hope you get to see your car! Keith :) |
We will miss you...yeah right????
It is time. The girl got a coat of wax today and she is full of $4 a gallon fuel. You can't call anything that expensive gas or even gasoline. The trailer is loaded with a new set of "stickers" and a set of scuffs just in case. It is time for the Spring ritual and the pilgrimage to Gadsden.
All the event packages are ready for the folks and I still have three hours of loading all the extra stuff in the truck and then it will be time to crank her up, drive it in and strap it down. We will see you guys in Gadsden on Friday, that is if you are not in the poker run tomorrow.... Richard and Linda aka "LAD Racing, LLC" |
Adam and I regret that we will not be there to show all of you what a suburban with flaming brakes can do in the mountains and what a "proper" FIA can do on the track. I am in-between cobras right now, but the next one will be a Unique 289 with a Southern Automotive stroker small block. I don't know if the fellow that bought my car will attend Cobrafest, but if he does, watch out as the new motor has lots more power than the one in which we took FTD in last year.
Have a fun and safe get together and give my best to the Weavers. Rick Brownyard |
Rick,
New CC handle??? Keith :) |
Yep--new handle, same old man.
rick |
Boy, you guys really missed a good one! We had a great weekend thanks to Richard & Linda Dunn! I came in second in big blocks. Not sure yet what tire pressure to run with the new Kouhmos, seemed slow in the corners, but lots of power. The acceleration with the smaller profile tires is strictly AWESOME!
One guy was catching me in practice and I started hitting it harder and left him in the dust! I out acceleratied him down the back straight like a rocketship! I was hitting 112mph on that little straight. Rick, we missed you! Jerry |
Jerry
Did Jerry tell you that he won the poker run????
Jerry didn't mention the summons fron the Audibon Society, seems he's faster than a speeding mockingbird. Also, Jerry is not understating his new power. He could turn those tires over any time he wanted to.. Getting the power on the ground was not easy in some of the hot slick spots.(Track temp was 122) |
Richard, I wasn't going to tell them that I had become "Dirty Jerry Diesel" now wanted for killing birds on the track! I was only trying to "kill the competition"! The bird just got in my way. Thankfully, he didn't damage the car. I got all the feathers and blood off clean. He almost made it into the hood scoop. Maybe the feathers clogged my carb?
All kidding aside, We DID win a really neat trophy for the Poker Rally. Trudy and I used to win a lot of rallies, but never a poker run. Our very first rally was a poker run and I didn't even get a pair Jerry |
Jerry,
Glad to hear you all had a great time. I hope to make it next year. Did you happen to take any pictures of this years event? Looks like Bill made another awe some 427!! Charlie |
Charlie,
Yeah, I took a few dozen or so pics. I'll try to get them posted today. I'll let everyone know here when they are up on my web site. Jerry |
Actually
We did come up with a new moniker for Jerry...."PowerStroke Rowley" . All he needs to do is add the turbocharger and figure out how to make that carburetor mix the diesel fuel/racing gas hybrid fuel mixture. I am not sure that Bill Parham has tried that yet?????

JERRY ET. AL.-
SOUNDS LIKE YOU ALL HAD A GREAT TIME, SORRY THAT I COULDN'T BE THERE. JERRY-- IT APPEARS THAT YOU HAVE YOUR CAR SORTED OUT PRETTY WELL, CONGRATULATIONS! I HAVE TO ASK HOW THE SMALL BLOCKS DID AND IF MY OLD CAR SHOWED UP. I HAD ENCOURAGED THE BUYER TO TRY TO MAKE THE GIG AND I HOPE HE WAS ABLE TO. HE BLEW THE MOTOR AND WAS GOING TO HAVE TO GET UP AND RUNNING IF HE WAS GOING TO BE ABLE TO ATTEND. I MISS MY COBRA, BUT SOONER, RATHER THAN LATER, ANOTHER UNIQUE FIA WILL APPEAR IN MY GARAGE. BEST TO ALL, RICK BROWNYARD |
