:( But I know almost nothing about cars (other than driving of course)... Still I'd like to come and help for anything that I can do.
Ertu |
Ed, I don't know if I'll be ready by then but I've actually crewed at my friends track up in W. VA (Summit Point) I was the only one who had long pants on that day ;)
If you need a crew member count me in... We can work on that Video taping Idea you had too! Rich |
Pit crews need no knowledge of auto mechanics. They only need a desire to wave parts of red undergarments, mumble into two way radios as very fast and plastic Cobras..err,,roadsters flash by at lightning speed. Knowledge of mopping up anti-freeze is a plus. Other duties include weighing down the passanger side of roadsters, keeping accurate lap times(for tuning purposes only), pushing cobras out of grass filled ditches, buying my lunch, etc.

I guess I can do that 'pit crew' thing, other than the 'buying lunch' part of course. :)
Guys, if you want I can tape the event make VCDs for you. What do you think? |
Ohhhh,
I'm not sure Jim Pomroy wants any video taping.... He is reminded quite frequently (by me :) ) of how often I've been kicking his butt. I'd like a copy.... Ed FFR1997K |
Gainesville track equipment
Just a reminder, since I won't be attending Gainesville on the 18th, you
guys and gals are going to need track equipment. Specifically: flags, stop watches, and FRS radios. I would encourage everyone who attends to bring FRS radios if they have them, our previous flags were red shop towels....I know you folks have some of those! And a stop-watch or two.... should round things out. Have fun! |

Hey Jim, we were using mine and Joe's radios and stop watches. The radios are sold in pairs at Wal-Mart for as little as $36.95. The shop towels you can get at Advance Auto for about $3. I am going to miss out on this one it looks like. I just got my car back from McDonough on Wednesday. I haven't even driven it yet. Tomorrow I will change all the pin drive nuts for the Trigos and remount the street tires. Then, rain gods allowing, I can drive to Burger King tomorrow night and see if it makes it! You guys have fun in Talladega and in Gainesville in Janruary!
|
I have two of the radios that we used. I can bring them along with a few red shop towels.
We need a few more brave souls to fill out the 20 to 24 spaces we have room for. If you dont have a cobra and are wanting to buy one you should plan to attend as a pit crew member and pitch in your help. We will open up spaces to non Cobras, GT-40's or Shelby Mustangs after December. What do you feel about letting past non-cobras register now? We need a few vettes to push around. :) Jerry I was worried about you as I have not seen you post here or heard from you lately. Glad to see you got the cobra fixed. I am attending the Auburn Game this weekend so I will not get to BK this weekend. I am debating going to the AU-FL game or the local SCCA october fest next weekend. Are you going to the SCCA event next weekend? You could thrash the Miata or the vette if the Cobra is still in the break in period. |
Aumoore, I WAS going to the SCCA Octoberfast, but, my corvette club has a big show on Saturday so I have to go to that in Pensacola Beach.
Sunday I don't want to miss church, but will come out in the afternoon to cheer you on. Tom went to the last event and ran his E/M. Call me when you are around over here. |
Ruble & Jerry -
Weather permitting, I'm going to the SCCA autocross in Ozark tomorrow and in Pensacola next week. I hope to see you guys around. |
Aumoore,
Can yuo bring the radio's to the Reptile Roundup? We could sure use them in the poker run. This will help keep the gaggle of cars together if we get stretched out too far. One for the pace car, another for the trail car.... Just a thought. Ed FFR1997K |
Yes I will along with some fresh batteries
|
I'm in on this track thing as always. I may be late in responding all the time, but heck I live in town, how could I NOT go?
Anyone that needs info about the Gainesville area, just let me know. |
Ed..thanks for pointing me towards this one....I go to school in Gainesville, of course... no cobra yet, but I am definitely interested in taking part in the "pit crew". I have pretty good knowledge of american cars, and I have a feeling my buddy would love to join me on the "crew"---his dad has a beautiful 351 powered roadster back in Tampa. I'll check back closer to January.
Later, Evan. |
Evan,
We look forward to having you. Please plan on being at the drivers meeting Friday night. It is held in the hotel lobby of the Hampton Inn. I think the time is 8:30 or 9:00 pm. You can send me your phone number and I can call you when we are at dinner. Normally our gruop has dinner Friday night at the Outback Steakhouse. We havent had much luck there lately so things may change. Send me your number and I can bring you up to speed when we get into town. Ed FFR1997K |
Hi Ed,Dan,Ruble and the rest of the guys!!!
I don't know about Manny and Frank H, but I'll be there. I just finished making out the check and addressing the envelope. Next is the Hotel reservation, as soon as I'm done writting this.... See Ya there Armando |
Hey Doc,
Glad to see you are going to run that BackDraft. Lets see if you can put those impressive Dyno numbers to good use. Jim and I will be running hard as usual. I cant let him best me in that new Cobra of his. See you at the Hotel. We've got the drivers meeting on friday night after dinner. There will be more traffic on this thread as the event gets close.
