upcoming track events
For those wishing to participate(or just watch), WCARS (World Championship Auto Racing Series) has secured Roebling Road in Savannah, Ga., for the 3rd annual track deal at Roebling Road for July 1 and July 2, 2003. Cobras, Gt40s real and replica, Porsches, Can Ams, Winston Cup cars, should be there. It is fun to watch and take a few laps if you feel up to it.
To check out the track:

Disclaimer: I am not associated with WCARS except that I attend some of their events and have had a good time, and they are great at organizing this kind of thing.

Do you know if they plan to hit Carolina Motorsports Park anytime soon? It's sooooo close to home for me.

They should post the 2003 schedule soon, BUT, they are going to Road Atlanta the 4th and 5th of January..............if any of the "Gainsville Racers" want some practice....
At least look at Dave Crace's pisture on the WCARS website rounding turn 5 at Roebling road.

Keith,
Why not check out the Second Strike Spring Open Track and Driving school at VIR in Danville Va. May 17,18. Only about 250 miles from SC and the guys down/up there run a great show. Extra bonus, the Club Cranky gang will be there with all the Wannabe racers from up North.
VIR is one of the safest tracks to run, Lots of runoff areas, mostly grass and the guardrails are way off from the track. Also mostly Cobras on track. Last spring about 97 Cobras.
If interested contact Mike Stenhouse at www.secondstrike.com and ask about getting invited.
BTW We travel 400-500 miles to VIR

For all of you in GA, SC, FLA, I have been to 3 of these WCARs events and they are a great way to play with your car in a controlled environment and improve your own skills. I have done about 10 track events and races this past year---there is no substitute for the type of fun you have doing this. Remember, the original Cobra was built to race!

What are the regulations for Roll bars? The rules on their website say any open car must have a 4 point roll bar.

The 4 point rule is for racing I think. There are 2 street groups,
A no passing....no roll bar req'd
B passing....roll bar required
Anyway, you have a roll bar and so long as it is a real roll bar and attached to the frame that should meet the req. for the driver.
I got this info from the website.

John,
I would love to do it again next year, but, my engine is down again right now. How about running the 2000 C5 Vette?

Jerry,
Mr John W. can speak to the Vette bit, but I have seen them have a BLAST at a recent WorldCarz event at AMS. There was a really nice yellow one back in July running some really good times!! I was pissed cause he had AC and I didn't. Engine is down again? More diesel?

No diesel, very funny! Water in the oil at the moment. Probably a gasket problem, but, it's back in McDonough, GA. for repair. I have extra wheels for the Vette and am going to use Kuhmo V700 tires.

John,
Thanks for the pisture on World Cars. I wish they would have taken a picture of me behing your GT-40. I will be there in July. I took my engine to Bill Parham yesterday and he gave me hell about letting it get so dirty. Should be up and running in February
