http://www.worldcarz.com/
What happened to the Worldcarz website? I was keeping tabs on them as we are kind of getting shakey on the insurance riders at the Gainesville test track. This insurance thing is getting harder to come by.
The new barber track near Birmingham is rentable but it cost something like $10k for a day but you can run many cars on the track at one time. I have a friend who is running his sport bike up there next month. I think they are running like 60 bikes so the cost per bike is not that bad.

here is a link to the Barber track http://www.barbermotorsports.com/index.html
This is not a Skip Barber track. The owner is from the Barber Milk family.

The 10k rental fee does NOT include insurance.

Tracktime?
We should do some research on the insurance. I know I'd spend a few hundred to get on the track for a day with a group of ClubCobra members. We even have a few instructors in our midst.
Let's see $10,000 split among 50-60 DSCC members
@$200+ insurance?
Sounds like fun.
Anyone have a lead on insurance. Does anyone know anyone at the late WorldCarz? What did they do for ins? They around in any form?
Anyone interested?

World Carz
They are still around as far as I know. The website shows AMS on April 26, 27, and Carolina Motorsports after that. JW would know, I think he is still running his cup car with them.

Oh Boy, here we go again.
I knew someday you guys would be interested in running on a real racetrack !
Worldcarz.com is still there, they were updating their website. This years Willis 100 is July 1 and 2. POC Porsche Owners Club has the track the 28th and 29th of June, and allows ant type of car that passes the inspection in street class.
We are taking off the 30th of June to go to the beach, but all told there is 4 days of track driving in a 5 day period. Man what a vacation !
Barber is a track I want to run soon, and HSR is going there the end of this month. If I make it, I'll report.
How many are interested in a track get together at a track other than Gainsville ?

Count me in John. I know I'll be down for the Willis 100. If I could get my competition license by then I would be IN it. I'll probably be there for the POC also. Barbers looks like a great track too.

John
You should know if most cobras are legal in the street class? I read the website and they mention a 5 point roll bar and most cobras have a three point.

We are talking street class, and it says "approved roll bar". I'm not sure what that means.
I think it would be best for anybody interested to check with worldcarz.com directly via e-mail and see what rollbar is "approved" for the street class.
Perhaps consider it more of a car show with a track opportunity for those that wish to try it ?

I doubt any cobra would pass if the broomstick went from the roll bar to the dash. I have heard that some use a straight line from the roll bar to the most forward hard point like a suspension. point.

That sounds reasonable Aumore, but like I said, I would still check with the organizer for clarifcation. I'm editing my original post to avoid any confusion.
Changing gears to skill level, I would say that the Gainsville boys should have enough of it by now to successfully run on a bigger track, and that there are not that many others that would be interested in going. We'd be lucky to get 5 cars , but I think they would enjoy them selves.
