Default 4/19 Gainesville....Who's Trash Talking Now?

The weather, cars and track were all great on Saturday in Gainesville! Thanks Ed for working hard to pull it all together.

So who came up with the quick times?? From my vantage on the turns and timing with my stop watch it looked like Ed was running a little faster than Jim most of the time.

Ed, are you going to post or e-mail our times for the day. If you need any help reducing them or formatting them I could enter them in a spreadsheet or text if you want to fax the time sheets to me. I sure did enjoy having the chance to run on the track for the first time!

Hey, I hope you guys had a great day at the track!!! I sure missed you guys!!! I could not make it this time, bummer! But my tranny is still at Pro Motion getting doctored up, I'm hopeing to get it back this week...
So, how did everyone do? Who got the best times this time?

Hey Ed, did Manny or Frank tell you that we came out on T.V. We were interviewed for about 5 minutes(that's all that was aired, but they really spent a lot of time with us) while at the Homestead Event a couple weeks ago. Raul Iglesia was able to copy the T.V. show, I've got to get a copy from him.

Armando
You broke you tranny but I broke mine on a race track. Breaking the POS T-5 did not upset me that much except it broke on the second lap and cut my day short.

We missed you but we went on and tried to break every cobra there. The Carnage was starting to get scary.

I broke my Tranny on my second lap and I was the first on the track. so I started the bad luck.

Tom Jones had destroyed his cam gear and his distributor but his wife pulled a miracle by writting a big check to get her husbands toy back running so he could attend the event. It was pretty in it's new red paint job. Late in the day it started missing and Mrs. Jones tore the red flag out of the flagmans hand and ran the Cobra down and protected her big investment before Tom broke it again.

Mike Iodice was the only one to oil the track down but it was his power rack that busted a seal. Serves him right for having power steering on a cobra.

Tom Powell smoked his Clutch as did Jerry Miller in his SPF with an Aluminum 427.

Dan Fortin started hearing what sounded like a spun bearing so he shut it down. This was the second time in two trips to gainesville he had motor problems. At least he was fast and Ed Boothman let him drive his Porsche Carrerra 4 a few times.

I have to give props to Lorrie Pomroy for feeling sorry for me and trusting me with the keys to her 2003 Cobra Mustang for a set of 5 laps. I was so nevious driving that car my right leg was shaking but it was fun. The car had much more that I was willing to wring out of it. Jim Pomroy rode with me and kept telling me to shift a 6500 but I granny shifted at 5500. That is one awsome production car.

Chris Bailey has one cool FFR with a really nice 383 Stroker motor he built in his kitchen(bet his landloard loves him). He ran strong and only had problems when driving back to the Hotel. He and I spent the knight searching for a sutable alternator to allow him to make the 4 hour drive home sunday. We did get to see a pair of drunks do everything in their power to pi$$ off Gainesville's finest at Auto Zone. I had to hold Chris back as he wanted to bust the door down to the bathroom and extract one of the drunks who was holed up there for about 30minutes. Chirs will try and say I was flirting with a young College student working in a Biestro we stopped at but I think she was interested in Chris.

Hey Ruble,

My clutch held up just fine in my SPF. It was Terry Lee in the Blue SPF with the clutch problem. Must be the xtra 100 HP he has on me.

My wife Pam took a lot of pictures will post some when we sort them out.

Weather was great and everyone had a great day.

Awww Ruble, I didn't oil the track down too bad, did I?

Didn't look like there was much of anything to clean up when I checked, but what sucked was knowing I was done for the day....

Really enjoyed it until that happened though....

What a fun weekend.
Weather was awesome and we all had a great time....
Tom got home and found a loose distributor hold down bolt.
Re set timeing and he's ready for Sebring with me in two weeks.

I was able to best Jim Pomroy once again, but it was costly....
New "R" tires, rear coil overs and front and rear springs. Whew!!

I'll be posting the next Gainesville dates soon.
They are very happy with us and welcomed us back any time.
Thank you all for driving safe and supporting the DSCC.

Default SMOKED CLUTCH

IT'S OUT AND DONE FOR
THAT'S THE BAD NEWS
THE NEW CLUTCH, PRESSURE PLATE, AND THROW OUT BEARING ARE GOING IN AS I POST THIS.
THAT'S THE GOOD NEWS

WE DON'T KNOW FOR SURE WHAT WENT WRONG AND WHY THE CLUTCH LET GO, BUT THE ENGINE SIDE WAS TOTALY DESTROYED,(JUST DUST) AND THE PRESSURE PLATE SIDE WAS BROKEN AND WAS BURNED ONTO THE FACE. LUCKILY NO DAMAGE TO THE FLYWHEEL OR ANYTHING ELSE. I'LL BE UP AND RUNNING AGAIN TOMORROW. WE ARE INSTALLING A RETURN SPRING ON THE YOKE AND SLAVE UNIT SO THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN.
I CAN'T WAIT FOR SEBRING!!! THIS MONSTER NEEDS SOME ROOM TO RUN
I NEVER DID GET IT INTO 4TH GEAR AND USED VERY LITTLE OF 3RD. NEXT TIME AT GAINESVILLE, JUST 3RD AND LOTS OF BRAKE. MAYBE, DOWN TO 2ND AT THE HAIRPIN

Boy am I upset I couldn't make it. Just got the tranny back in fired it up last night to take it for a spin. On the way to the gas station she just died on me. Pushed her home, thank god only 2 blocks, and put her away. Wish I could make it to Sebring but am starting finals on Monday.

Congrats to everyone and I will definately be there the next time

Forever Bitten
Frank H

P.s. CobraDoc and i were racing to get our tranny's fixed and in and as usual I beat Him resondingly. Even getting repaired he is SLOOOOOOWWWWWWWW!

Let's see, Tome best time was 1:00.84 and Jims best time was 1:00.49
That means Tom ran a lap only .35 seconds slower than Jim....
A new rivalry starting???
Look out Jim, Tom is trying to catch you.
And this was only his second event.
Great job Tom, lets see if you learn anything at Sebring that will help you surpass Jim

Oh how I love this stuff!!

This weekend will be spent installing some brake ducting for Sebring (and getting ready to pass Jim on the strainghts

How much faster are you this time than last time. With all the
add ons you did you must have gotten better.

It's hard to tell how much time I gained.
We ran the track differently from last time out.
I think I was running 1:02's or slower.
Car handled so much better. No more swaying, much better corner speeds.
I'm VERY happy with the mods that I made.

Hey all you guys, I'm so glad you had fun, fun, fun, cause I sure missed it!!! The last event was the best time I've had with my Cobra!!!!
I still haven't gotten my tranny back from Pro Motion, maybe tomorrow...
Ruble, Flanker and I were racing when we broke' em, at Homestead Speedway. So now we're even....But I am sorry to hear it, I know how bad that makes you feel. Hell, I'm still feeling it!!! Look what I missed out on...Get your piggy bank ready.
Speaking of Flanker, and your so fassssssst, just wait my time will come...
I see a new battle going on here guys, Dan Sr. keeps beating everyone with his Backdraft (best time) and Chuck West is right on his heels. If I'm not mistaken, it was the same order in the January event too. See Flanker, you have nothing to worry about, even without you, Backdraft is still on top. Accurse when I get to beat you, Backdraft will still be on top.....Ha Ha Ha.

But then again, Chuck is still running at the end of the day, while Dan has been broken and on the trailer by lunch time! There sure seem to be a lot of broken Backdrafts...
