Working as a pit crew guy is fine with me. I happen to be pretty good with a wrench. My Cobra buddies Mike I. and Larry W. are going to Roebling, and have both been to the Gainsville events. They had a great time and make me VERY jealous with their tales of track time.
Ed, thanks for the offer of emergency assistance, the Cobra community is indeed a generous one. But I still need a trailer if I am going to somehow get race rubber down there, as you said. It just wouldn't be as much fun on my BF Goodrich street tires. I have been looking at some sweet Featherlight trailers, so it shouldn't be long. Then I just need to fix my truck to have something to pull it! These logistics are killing me.
Charlie

Engineer Ed 06-20-2003 06:24 AM

Yeah, I know waht you mean.
I ran Gainesville for two years on street tires and it's indeed much more fun with race compound.
I cant wait for Roebling road.
I'll definetly season my tires after two days of racing up there.
i just hope to have something left in them for Gainesville in Oct and Nov.
I'm still trying to afford a set of street wheels/tires for the Key West tour later this year.

Keep in mind, if you plan on attending Gainesville you will need to make the drivers/pit crew meeting.

Charlie,
You're finally coming around........hurry up and get that trailer dammit!!! :3DSMILE:

Charlie 06-20-2003 10:51 AM

Mike,
I have been wanting to get my hanger queen out on the track from the beginning. But as I have said before, there are just too many projects, and too little of me. It will happen eventually. In the meantime, do you need a crewman for your race team?
Charlie

Engineer Ed 06-20-2003 10:54 AM

I dont know if he needs a crewman, he needed a mule last time at the track! :D

Oh how I remember pushing his bleeding car off at turn 2.
Glad you got it fixed in time for the annual meeting.

Yeah Ed, Ruble was trying to out-do my famous backwards turn 2 and broke his tranny. Ruble, you know I'm the only one that can do it that way!!! Why even try!!!
Thanks for putting me on the list.......

aumoore 06-20-2003 08:19 PM

If I break this tranny I quit and will join the legion of waxers lead by the great waxer Cobra Dan :D

Mike I 06-20-2003 09:17 PM

Ed, that is a very low blow......but you're right, it really sucks being part of the attrition percentage........now I know how Ruble feels.....:3DSMILE: ....(he's getting to be almost as bad as Dino, isn't he?...;) :JEKYLHYDE

Just kiddin' Ruble. I haven't blown anything serious yet, but I have a feeling my time is gonna come!! %/ %/

Charlie, you're always welcome to come along, but we can't call it a race team unless I start trading paint or at least compete in an actual race.....how about we call it an "abuse my car" team....;)

Guy's
We are staying at the Hampton Inn again.
Drivers meeting in the lobby at 9:00 as usual.
Dinner at 6:30 at the Japaneese restaurant next to the Ramada.

My wife prefers to travel with our mascot (Shelby) and the Ramada was the only nearby hotel that accepts pets.
I'll be staying at the Ramada again only because I prefer to be with my wife rather than pairing up with one of you grease monkeys... :D
The rest of you can book a room at the Hampton with the DSCC discount. (352) 371-4171

I'll be in the lobby of the Hampton Inn Friday at 2:15 to meet anyone interrested in helping me set up the track.

CobraDan 07-21-2003 11:59 AM

Aumoore if you ran an automatic transmission like the greatest waxer of all times does (CobraDan a shining example) a Turbo 400 with a BB not a Turbo 350, that's why Ford makes a C4, I don't think you will be needing the much stronger C6
MikeI our buddy Dino has blown up his new 392CI engine and it now sits in Titusville broken as he works in Miami.
Dan:LOL:

aumoore 07-21-2003 03:29 PM

Chevys don't break because they are so slow. ;)

Actuall I had to wax my car to get rid of all the streaks left in my first and only wax job left by the fire extinguisher residue. The underside of the hood has a little character now.

Maybe I should hire a real mechanic so I will not be breaking used transmissions and breaking jury rigged oil lines from Home Depot. I guess shopping for car parts in the plumbing section is bad ju ju.

About the only part left on my car that is a used part is the rear end and I have had it rebuilt and a new set of gears in it.

I am now pricing race tires & wheels, Kirkey seats and Canton Road Race pans. This is getting expensive maybe I should take up a cheaper hobby like big game hunting in Africa.

We're Booked

Carol and I are booked at the Hampton Inn for Friday and Saturday nights :) Sorry Ed, I just like those king size beds.
I'll work something out so you can use our pool :D
We will try to leave early so I can help out with the track setup on Friday. I may just meet you there. We can discuss later on.

Engineer Ed 07-22-2003 01:41 PM

Terry,
I just worked out a contract with the Hampton.
Did you get the DSCC rate of $69.00 per night?
If not, please call them back.
I like the king beds also...
I appologise for the mix up at the last event.

Ed

Good deal

Ed,
I spoke with them yesterday, and that was the price. I must have been one of the first to reserve. Had to do it now before I leave on a little vacation. Guess you have to do some of these things to keep the other half happy.
Don't worry about the last Gainesville event, that was so long ago I can't remember if it was this year.
I will have the grill again so we can do lunch at the track for those that want to grill.
Missed the deal on the portable car canopy that we discussed. Still looking. I think that will work out really great for all the paperwork, tables, and cover for the workers. :) Let's hope I can find a bargin before Oct.

Ed -
Is there a decibel limit on the Gainesville track?

aumoore 10-07-2003 08:48 PM

Tommy

NO
They run top fuel and funny cars there so I do not see how they could have a sound limit as those things can drown out a F-16 at full afterburner.

The track is actually pretty far from any real civilization. The closest restraunt is a Sonny's about 5 miles away.

Engineer Ed 10-08-2003 05:04 AM

No dB limit.
Run them as loud as you want....

Less than 2 weeks...
Ah, finally!

Ed
