WHEN DOES THE TRASH TALKING START ?
I'M WILLING TO BET MY TIMES WILL BE BETTER THAN THE LAST TIME WE WERE THERE :) KEY WEST RUN JUST TO WARM UP THE TIRES    ED, CAROL AND I SHOULD BE THERE EARLY FRIDAY AFTERNOON TO HELP SET UP. HOW ABOUT DINNER AT THE ALE HOUSE FRIDAY? I THINK THEY EVEN SELL BEER THERE    TL :MECOOL: |
Terry,
Lets see if the guys want to do Ale House on Saturday rather than Napolitanos. Friday is the Japanese steak house. I personally liked the Japanese restaurant we went to last time. They sold beer there too.... Keep Sunday open if you want to join us on the RR "pre" poker run. We wanted to check out the route that Dave has been working on. Ed |
Carol doesn't do Jap' food, and I really shouldn't (salt).
I here they have a great Micky D's nearby for us. :D Sat. Ale house OK by me.;) I was planning on heading up to North Carolina to look for some property Sunday after we finished up; but will see about doing a test on the poker run with you guys. How long do you think it will take? TL :MECOOL: |
I'd say a couple of hours..
2-3 at least. Hard to say. We may make changes also... Sorry that you aren't interrested in the Japanese steakhouse. No to sushi?? PS, it's good to keep the yang up! :D Ed |
Ready, Set, GO
KEY WEST RUN DONE:3DSMILE:
GAINESVILLE, HERE WE COME **) **) **) READY OR NOT! WE WILL BE LEAVING EARLY FRIDAY AM SO WE CAN TRY TO HELP AT THE TRACK, SHOULD BE THERE ABOUT 1:30 OR SO. ED, POST YOUR CELL # AGAIN, OR E-MAIL TO ME. I LOST MY PHONE IN NEW ORLEANS, SO WE WILL BE USING CAROL'S CELL (561) 385-8409. CINGULAR JACKED ME AROUND ON REPLACING MINE EVEN WITH INSURANCE, SO I CANCELED THEIR SERVICE. I DON'T HAVE TIME TO DEAL WITH SEARCHING FOR A NEW PROVIDER UNTIL WE GET BACK FROM N.C. TL :MECOOL: |
Terry,
My cell # is: (813) 765-3769 I'll be in the hotel lobby at 2:15 and we will leave at 2:30 to head over to the track. Weather is going to be perfect... I cant wait. Ed |
Clockwise or Counter Clockwise
Hey Ed,
Which way you going to run the track this time. Will we have that decreasing radius sweeper or not. Only 2 days left time to get the mind in the groove. Jerry Miller |
We plan to run counter-clockwise.
Decreasing radius turn into the carousel.... As much as we loved coming out of that turn wide open (clock-wise) I an concerned with the 110 mph+ speeds we were achieving towards the end of the straight. Gainesville’s management commented on how fast we were driving so I decided to slow us down by running the other direction. Sorry guys, I’d rather be safe then lose the track all together. We need to improve our cornering skills anyway. There aint much out there that can keep up with us on the straights! See you guys in two days. Drive safe! Ed |
I can't help noticing that the level of trash talking for this event is way down from previous events. Is it true that there is a rule against trash talking if you car finished fewer than ten laps at the last outing?;)
|
Maybe they are waiting to see if their cars past tech 1st.
TL:MECOOL: |
Tommy
You need to show up and see for yourself ;) How's that for trash talk :) |
OK, I'll start...
Jim, your are going down hard.... I forecast beating you by at least 3 seconds! Ed |
Ed,
What is Jim going to do let the wife drive again? Dan |
Yes, Lori drives.
She drives her 2003 Mustang Cobra. She is getting better and we now have a few husband wife teams. Renee is still trying to get used to my car and it's lack of power steering. Those sticky Kuhmo Victo-racers dont help either ! Ed |
We got back last nite!
Three Oct. weekends of Cobra events in a row followed by a week in the NC mountains - ALL PERFECT WEATHER :D :D :D
Carol and I pulled in our driveway at 8:00 pm last night. It seems I have lived in the driver's seat of at least one of the cars the whole month. 1st New Orleans, then Key West, followed by Gainesville, and then onto the mountains of NC and Tenn. and finally back to So. Fla. We have put some serious miles on the Escalade recently, especially pulling the trailer through those 2 - lane winding mountain roads. The trip down from Highlands NC was the worst part with plenty of tourist traffic, tight switch back turns, and the degree of grade. The mountains were in full color and the weather couldn't have been more perfect. I even stopped in to see Ernie Elliot's (Bill's brother) Engine shop in Dawsonville Ga. on the way up. Quite an operation. I may have a special secret in store for you guys when we hit Gainesville again. Ed, please post times from last event when you get a chance so I can dial in how much this "Old Man" needs to whip you youngsters the next time out. :3DSMILE: I need a rest now, :o See you all in a few weeks, TL & Carol :MECOOL: |
Terry,
Glad to see your back home again safely. Ed has posted the times in another post and you will have to get that bigger motor to be top dog. Ed is the guy to try and top. Dan |
Bigger isn't always better
Dan,
The "new track setup" at Gainesville actually favors the SB setup more than my alum. 427. The guys with the punched out 5.0's can make more RPM's, and do it faster than I can. My massive torque is what keeps me in there. Or is it superior driving skills?    Now put us on the track at Sebring or such, and it's a whole 'nother story. Now the big question; what did Ernie do for TL to make him faster for the next event? Stay tuned folks :3DSMILE: :3DSMILE: :3DSMILE: TL:MECOOL: |
