Default Requesting help to organize the Reptile Roundup II

OK, I've realized that this event is getting way to big for one guy to handle. This event is going to be huge!
I need a few guys to help me put it all together and take some of the weight off my shoulders.
I need someone to handle the trophies, food for Saturday, people to place phone calls to our members, plan the poker run route, etc.

If you can help, please e-mail me.
I humbly request your support.

Ed,
I can lend a hand with whatever you think works best. Since I'm in Gainesville perhaps I can best help with any local arrangements that may be needed. Maybe the food for Saturday? I also have a couple of 10 x 20 tents if we want to put them up at the track to keep out of the sun (note that they are NOT to keep out of the rain since that will be irrelevant on that weekend). I'm not sure how set the poker run is yet, but there is a nice 50's style diner in High Springs (about 15 miles north west of Gainesville) that could make a nice gathering spot for a bunch of Cobras!

Dave,
My biggest worry right now is lunch for Saturday.
Since I am not local to Ocala, I dont know what is available.
I think the 50's style restaurant you mentioned is too far North since we will be in the Ocala area for the poker run. Unless you think we can somehow tie that in to the poker run.....

Renee and I are headed up to see Big Daddy in the near future so we can also look around for a restaurant that might be closer to the hotel for Saturday evening dinner.

What concerns me more is a recruiting a caterer or something to provide lunch at Big Daddy's facility for Saturday's lunch.
Is this something you can handle?
At this time I have no clue as to how many people will be there.
With 5-6 Cobra manufacturers, multiple vendors, this show is looking to be huge!
I hope to have a rough headcount soon but you know how these guys are. Always waiting till the last minute before deciding to come.

As for the newsletter, send me what you have for an article.

Thanks for offering to help.
Ed

Ed,
I'll follow up on what we can do for food in Ocala. My wife works in Ocala and has a number of local contacts/info. I have a contact that's catered some of our local flying group's activities in Gainesville. Any preferences on the menu and price range? ie. are you thinking of burgers & dogs,BBQ? at Garlits or something more upscale?

Something simple and relatively inexpensive.
Burgers, dogs, BBQ chicken, etc...
You are on the right track.

Try giving Garlits a call and see if they recommend a local caterer also.
I cant tell you how much I appreciate the help.

I would love to help out but have been busy. In June we went to Ohio for the DVSFIII, last week we spent a day at Bush Gardens and I'm getting read to go to Pensacola and Mobile for a week to visit my uncle. Went to a Gun Show and also went to the shooting range, spent this past weekend at the stock car races in Port Charlotte. Hell this damn retirement is going to kill me and of course if you listen to Aumoore I spend any free time in the garage Waxing and Waxing. The only problem is, it's been to damn hot in the garage and I haven't been out there in months. If I wasn't spending the same week of the Reptile Roundup in Vegas I would be around to give you a hand. What could I do at this end to help?

I know I can't do much from Miami but I'll help with whatever, especially there at the event!!!
This might help...I remember meeting a local Cobra owner from Ocala while at the Silver Springs event, maybe he can help. I'm trying to see how we can get intouch with the guy.

Hey Doc,
How about some phone calls.
Chester said he would help in this are also.
I'll divy up the DSCC list and give you some names.
I'm wanting to "speak" to each mamber, not just leave a message.
This way I can tell them about the event and hopefully get them to comit, send in a check, etc...
I'm sending out a letter in the mail as well as e-mails.
i am so looking forward to this event.
I hope to have a huge turnout.

Thanks for offering to help.
I'll get the list to you in a week or so.

Cheers,
Ed

Ed,

I can try and help out with the poker run, but it might be a good idea if DaveH and Terry Brannon can work with me on that.
I've got about 3 weeks before I have to commit to the little woman for the wedding on Nov 15.

Dave, Terry you up for a weekend of driving around?

Do you know where you plan to start and end Ed?
