Reptile Roundup lap times
OK, here are the times for the Reptile Roundup track event.
The track event was a huge success and many of the new drivers expressed how much fun they had. Hopefully, this means the DSCC will be renting this track on a more frequent basis.
Outside of the three ringer drivers boasting a “professional” status and extremely fast cars, the rest of us faired very well.
I now have a new driver to keep my eye on as Tom Jones is pushing me for the fastest time of the day…
Jim Pomroy only brought his wife’s 03 Cobra to the show so the Blue Monster is waiting until February to challenge again for TOD.
Fun was definitely had by all and for the first time, not one car was lost due to mechanical failure.
I look forward to seeing some more new faces at the Gainesville track in the future.
For anyone not paying attention, we have reserved February 21st and March 27th for more DSCC track fun.
Please send your $50.00 deposit to:
DSCC
3668 Misty Woods Circle
Pace, FL 32571
Thanks for attending and I look forward to seeing you at the Reptile Roundup III

Ed, weren't the last five times on you in the Backdraft racecar or was that your car after I left?

Ed,
Thanks for putting these together. I, for one, really enjoyed that track layout as I think the sustained turns around the skid pads gave me a constant turn that was long enough to experiment with and practice throttle steering. I am starting to get the hang of it! Now if I could just find my way around the decreasing radius carousel Can't wait to go again!
I have some pics of you in the Backdraft car I'll send to you if Chris Allen hasn't already forwarded them.
Dave

Yes, please send them to me.
My wife didn't take any photo's of me this last outing.
I thank you in advance.

Hey Reg, check it out. Shifter-cart racing constitutes you as a PRO Driver. And Grampa Tony who hasn't raced in 20 years is a ringer too.
Tell em' how little they can buy that, so called, race car for and they'll fall out.
... I've got a Legends car, can I be a PRO too?

great times in the Backdraft car and IMHO it is more race car than street car. Huge Brakes, very very wide slicks, stroker motor, no windshield etc. Very very fast and well thought out car(except for forgetting to put the freeze plug in)
Maybe we should post what type of car and if they had street rubber or race rubber on the car.
Hunter Cobra
Street Kumho Esxta 712's with over 2 years worth of heat cycles
Soccer mom motor
I guess I did pretty good for my poor mans cobra

Mine has street tires - Nitto DR on the rear and Dunlop SP5000s on the front. The front end kept pushing on me in the turns, at least that is my story.
Just a little 347 stroker motor up front with a couple of hair dryers on it.

New distributor - went to some superdupper Accel this time.
Also new alum. catch can. Dennis threw out my water bottle one
Now the car even STARTS.
I need to unload trailer. How much fun can that be?
I just remembered, there may be a Bud or 2 left.

Ed
I will be loaded for Engineer next event with my new super sticky Goodyear Stock car tires and Aero Wheels. The Rear tires are 16# lighter than the Crager SS/Kumho combos so I should save over 60# worth of unsprung weight. These tires have over one inch more rubber hitting the ground and they are mush softer compound. Heck I feel like Dale Jarrett with the stock car wheels and tires.
Darn this keep up with the Kamptners is getting expensive.

Like I've been telling Jim for years now....
It's not the car, It's the driver!
Bring it on Fireball!
I've been reading Bonderants book

Look Darlin Engineer Ed appears to be an Educated man now I really hate him!
While you are reading your book and spouting off big college terms like apex, drift angle and late braking I will be smoking your times now that I have real tires.
Fireball
P.S. you only beat me by 2.89 seconds in the FFR I do not count your times you made in the ringer Backdraft.

OK Fireball - Kenseth is tough to argue against!
Hey, how about we have Ed run on some street tires to help stem this escalation of "keeping up with the Kampners"?
Then we'll see how much all of this "book" learnin' is helping out!
