I'm not going to type anything derrogatory.....
Arrrrrrgh, this is killing me!!! OK Jimmy, you had your fun at Roebling in the Vette.... Now it's time to see how much fun it is driving a Cobra. |
I'm working on a new format for the Willis races. I have a meeting Thursday night that I hope works out. If so, the races will be moving on to the next level. If not, then "same as last year" is not all that bad. I wll know after Thursday. Sorry for the mystery. I CAN tell you that if things work out like I hope, SOME (not all, some) of you may be actually racing (vs. Naught-racing) by Sunday. The pass restriction group will still be there for the duration though.
Honestly, I'm working on it. |
Jim
My wife has seen the pictures but after the tongue lashing you took at dinner when "HOOTER' was mentioned I bet you will be in for a couple of nights in the dog house |
Johan,
Hope you are able to work things out. Either way, this event will be awesome. I cant wait to see how this new Cobra of mine performs at Roebling. Just passed 350 miles :D Ed |

Racing gas at Roebling?
The Roebling Road web site says they have racing gas for sale at the track. I sent them an email asking what octane is availalbe, but got no reply. Do any of you guys know what they have?
|
Tommy, they have 100 leaded, 110 leaded, and 112 leaded.
It is around $7.00per gallon. |
They also have 100 UNLEADED. I was there a few weeks ago and at that time it was still $5.75 a gallon--may have gone up by now.
Rick |
OOps, my bad. Rick's right, and I don't know much it is either because they had tape over the price. I guessed 7.00 cause it used to be 6.00.

Johan,
What's with the cheap shot? Et Tu Brute? OK, todays Mothers day. Make sure you guys call Mom and tell her you love her. Cheers, Ed |
I would Ed, honest, but I lost your Mom's number.
|
Johan,
Any update on the Williswood event? Have you decided on the third day yet? Any news about the "Not-Race"? Ed |
Ed,
HSR (Historic Sportscar Racing)is interested in running the event and asked me to reserve the Friday to make it a normal HSR event, now and in years to come. It fits in very well with what I try to accomplish with the event : promote motorsports create better safer sportscar drivers Have a fun, relatively safe weekend There would be 5 run groups that align with HSR's groups 1,3,5,7,& 9. I would pay a portion of the entry fees as a sponsor, still have the dinner, and there is a run group suitable for all that have been in the past. HSR is planning on but has yet to commit to running the event. They are busy running the Road America event this weekend, and the Mitty was just a week ago. Bad time to put more on the table . The positives are more cool cars, timing and scoring transponders, a real competition director and race steward, organized instructors, a welcome party at the track Friday night (an HSR tradition), transfer of liability , and best of all I get to just show up and drive my car. Group 1 guys that show that they are ready can graduate from the event with an HSR comp License, and run in a real race group, maybe on Sunday, maybe a 1 hour enduro. With a bigger event, tires would be available at the track through a vendor. The negatives are : a bigger more structured event (there were 12 cars in 2002, 27 cars in 2003 ,50 cars in 2004, and there might be 100 in 2005 and 200 in 2006. I was comfortable running it whan there were 25 cars or so but now I am spread too thin. Anyway, that's what I'm working on and if it does not come to pass, being the same as last year is not all that bad. We have a meeting scheduled. |
Johan--
Sounds great! It would be nice to see you out there racing rather than acting as the consummate host to the rest of us. I'm familiar with the charges at HSR events and I'm sure that none of your former guests will be put off by the cost. A real bonus is that those who have wanted to get licensed to race will have the opportunity to do so. That will open up a whole new world of potential expenses for those that think that playing with cars is already costly enough! Thanks for all your work on this event, can't wait. Rick**) |
JOHAN,
Sorry I missed the Mitty - had a lot on my plate lately. I spoke with Ed re: DSCC doing the lunch thing again, and I am trying to arrange with the Bar-B-Q people in Pooler to cater. I stopped off there on Monday, and spoke with the owner again tonite. We are thinking Sunday - allright with you? If you add more cars etc., I think our head count may be off. Let me know. I'm heading back up to NC this Sunday, so I would like to arrange before then. TL :MECOOL: |
Johan,
Sounds like this event is going to be a blast. THANK YOU for all the hard work putting this together. It will be great if you are able to get HSR to run the event and more time for you to be out on the track with us. With all the track time you will have, I'm going to have more opportunities to pass you....perfect! :D Terry is working on bringing in a vendor for lunch on Sunday. Let Terry or I know if we should plan for Friday or Saturday instead. See you in a few weeks. Ed |
