Ed,
HSR (Historic Sportscar Racing)is interested in running the event and asked me to reserve the Friday to make it a normal HSR event, now and in years to come. It fits in very well with what I try to accomplish with the event :

promote motorsports
create better safer sportscar drivers
Have a fun, relatively safe weekend

There would be 5 run groups that align with HSR's groups 1,3,5,7,& 9.
I would pay a portion of the entry fees as a sponsor, still have the dinner, and there is a run group suitable for all that have been in the past. HSR is planning on but has yet to commit to running the event. They are busy running the Road America event this weekend, and the Mitty was just a week ago. Bad time to put more on the table .
The positives are more cool cars, timing and scoring transponders, a real competition director and race steward, organized instructors, a welcome party at the track Friday night (an HSR tradition), transfer of liability , and best of all I get to just show up and drive my car.
Group 1 guys that show that they are ready can graduate from the event with an HSR comp License, and run in a real race group, maybe on Sunday, maybe a 1 hour enduro. With a bigger event, tires would be available at the track through a vendor.
The negatives are : a bigger more structured event (there were 12 cars in 2002, 27 cars in 2003 ,50 cars in 2004, and there might be 100 in 2005 and 200 in 2006. I was comfortable running it whan there were 25 cars or so but now I am spread too thin.

Anyway, that's what I'm working on and if it does not come to pass, being the same as last year is not all that bad.
We have a meeting scheduled.
