Hey wait a minute, I just noticed you have a 351W engine, wouldn't that make yours a "cheap kit car" and mine with the 427 SO big block more of a replica?%/%/
I don't recall the "real ones" having 351 windsors in them back in the 60's.....

Well said Warren, I am glad that I went with the knock-offs, but it was a battle. There is so many neat wheels out there

Knock offs
I had some one piece hubs 4140 machined for my car so I could have the Knock off style. Have used this system with a race cobra with no safety wire and never had a problem, if they are done with a copper or lead hammer until the hammer note changes or thunk sounds different they are pretty good, lead is better as copper marks the knock-off more. If you are concerned there are large nuts available and need tightening with a torque wrench like the race guys do!

Mine is a replica because I said it was. Knock offs overrule any small block. Whenever someone rolls down the window at a stop light and asks if its a 427, I say yes about 50% of the time, just for grins. Three days ago, I had a guy ask me what year Corvette was it. I told him it was a super-early 2010 model, and the list price was only $39K. The guys eyes bounced off the tar.

Thats why I gave the rather stong opinion to the person that asked the question. As far as the other comments about my opinion, they did not PUSH the bolt-on wheels. No, they just attacked me, my wired on spinners and my small block. I wonder why they just attached me? Maybe they really like the spinners but are too proud to admit their mistake?
I ready for all commers ....

Hey, I've spent many years developing my moronic opinions. Plus they were said to the originator of this thread, and I did not want him to make the same mistake as other commentors on this thread.
I'm still waiting for the first Cobra owner to honestly answer this question ... do you honestly think that bolt-on wheels look better than spinner wheels on a Cobra?
If there is anyone out their that secure? If so, he probably uses Beano.
I have 2 other cars, but they both came with bolt on wheels. One is a really big block Olds 442 and the other is a super big block. King Kong.

Hey back at ya buddy - stay on point. This thread is regarding wheels, not whether or not you like my moronic comments.
Beam me up Scottie. There is about 6 inches of snow on the ground and its coming down hard. This thread is fun.

Anyway, My wheels are bolted on, and I have spinners. I also use wire locks for looks, and the wires are twisted at 14 turns per inch in length.

I use bolt on wheels with spinners. The wire locks are used for looks. I use 14 turns per inch of wire. It is a neat little tool that can be purchased for the unGodly some of $154.00 for the Mac tool truck.::(**)

Never had any problems with the knockoff's on my Healey 3000, a couple of solid whacks with the copper hammer and good to go. I would use anti seize on the threads, then would wipe them down once a year and apply a new application.
