Darn near every event charges an entry fee--$100 for the event is a good figure, for a badge or dash plaque, or whatever for the weekend participants. But don't plan a picnic, music, or whatever everyday, just provide a meeting place, if we're hungry, heck a picnic can be put together in an hour--they do have stores in London and Columbus--someone, somewhere, can get a grill or 2 up and going, make it spontaneous, not planned. We're adults( ) we can fend for ourselves. More fun is had when it isn't a planned "gotta do this"

GR -- I think most people agree with you-- when I suggested a cookout on Fri and Sat -- "The Ohio Cobra Club" is tossing around the idea of setting up some grills for those nights -- nothing big --raise a few bucks as a fund raiser-- this would give those who just want to hang out around the motels an option -- Actually we had discussed rolling over Dan, Rick and JP's cars and using then as the grills-- but others were concerned about the excessive grease making the french fries soggy-- the suggestion is still on the table--
 All;
It would make things easier if we paid a $100.00 -- I have no problem with the organizers "charging" for this fantastic weekend-- as we all know-- a lot of time, effort going into making this "The Spring Fling".

Ed, again these are only suggestions and food for thought and as it should be, it's your call

 Big OOOPS!
The correct dates ARE the 24/26th of June, NOT as I previously posted. Man it's tough doing this in an unheated area, on concrete, with the highs in the mid 40's! No computer in the house yet, anybody want to donate a really, really nice-wireless ready, laptop to this old guy?
Maybe just a real long phone cord will do.

DV...all building inspections have been post-poned, just not enough time in the day. Still writing answers to this thread and will post them as soon as the temperature in here gets to at least 50'!

I've got to get back on this wet (yup...it's raining again) slippery roof today. Seems one of the 'stacks' has developed a very small trickle of a leak. I knew I couldn't have gotten that lucky. |

 Ed,
I know it's nice to go back to your roots but when your approaching retirement age think warm. I'll put up with another Hurricane before I'll ever think about returning to Ohio and those damn COLD WINTERS. I'm really glad Spring Fling is on in June as summer is the only time to visit Ohio. Keep warm Ed, as winters are long in those Northern states.

Ed, I feel bad for you regarding the computer situation. Long phone lines can be a real pain. I have an old laptop in the garage. Given the circumstances, do you think the government will allow it as a write-off?

 Bill,
I've been trying my best to come up with a way to write one off! I just can't seem to find the right loop hole to get the wife to accept it
In the house most of the day, just can't convince myself to get out here to play in the rain and cold-Goooo Meechigan!

Ed "DV" Combs
Dan, do you get the Meechigan football games down there? |

Ed,I think with satellite or cable connections you can get any football game you want if you can afford to pay for it. I gave up on the Browns a long time ago as I like to cheer on a winning team once in awhile. All our friends and children are back in Ohio but both my sister and brother are here in Cape Coral in retirement with me enjoying the sunshine. The high today was only 85, the wife did say when getting out of the pool the air was cool, yes winter is on its way.

 Ed,
Since you store all the DVSF contributions in the building, wouldn't that qualify it for a taxible deduction? :-)

Actually, I think we should start a special fund for Ed's roof and the DVSF together. Maybe we could raise enough money to replace the entire roof and get rid of those leaks forever. I doubt any of the members on this thread would object. I'll plant the seed money - Ed let me know who to make the check out to!

Hey ya know that cold weather could come in handy - maybe I should give the folks at Harlan's a ring - I'll bet they would give us a discount if we kept all the chicken for the next fling in cold storage for them. :-) Whadya think guys? :-) And think of it this way, you won't need a frig for all the beer!

Dave,You might be the "VP of Sarcasm", but it's getting really old. As many of us have said, "We don't care what DV does with the $100". I spend more than that going out to a nice dinner with my wife. I have a lot of fun at the Fling and I think that the price of admission is more than worth it. For all of the time and effort that Ed puts into this thing, he deserves whatever he gets out of it. If you don't like that, just stay home. You're beating a dead horse......

Semko, please keep your sarcastic remarks to yourself !! Your remarks border on accusations. And I for one think they are uncalled for. JMHO!! Constructive remarks are always welcome.

Up until now, folks have been discussing all kinds of things in this thread in relative calm.
 Let's keep it that way.

 Thank you.

My,my,my.Dave, you have it all wrong. Re-read the threads, the roof is new. I was cutting holes in the roof for the exhaust and intake pipes to the boiler. It was one of those tubes (3") that didn't seal the first time.

Ed "DV" Combs ...I will address your 'sarcasm' at a later time, I'm sure you weren't just trying to be funny. As 'relaxinrob' says, it is getting kind of old.

J.P. (Justin) - Still drooling over the "JP COBRA" plate. First come .............!I like Yellow, because "The Boss" likes yellow. Without her I would not be remotely interested in this thread. I would have never built my Cobra. Anyway, just got back from Dayton where my #3 son just got married. Funny thing he and his now wife have been to II, III & IV along with my daughter as spectators. I was asked this weekend if there was going to be a V and I told them you won't believe all the B#&*@%$T that is going on about it. They said hope there is because it is "So Cool Seeing All Those Great Looking Cars and Watching Them Do Full Power Launches on Main Street in Downtown London".
I loved being there with all the other Cobra owners from around the country. I normally can't be there all 3 days. I won't miss Saturday though.
I think it's a great event for all us Cobra owners, but I really think it is a great event for "Joe Public" as well. Especially, for those that might be interested in joining the ranks of Cobra owners and those that just love these cars.
I hope I can add my .02 cents. LOL
 Jim

DvJust don't fall off that roof and get hurt. You need to keep running DVSF.

I, like alot of others have stayed out of this conversation for the most part. I think you have put together one of the BEST COBRA get togethers in the country and deserve a round of appaulause. We had a great time this past year.
I know what it takes to run large events with volunteers. It's alot of hard work. Again , I take my hat off to you and your great crew. GO FOR IT....................................

I am glad to hear that there will be another one. Our group from PA had a wonderful time meeting and cruising with all the COBRA family people. Count us in for next year. I think we will be bringing a few more from the Lehigh Valley area.

We should always be careful about making unfounded assumptions about other's honesty and integrity. I am not a psychologist, but I have been teaching high school for over 20 years and, in that time, I have made some observations. The accuser usually makes these assumptions of others based on the way that they would act themselves in a given situation. So, when you say things about others, you are broadcasting to the world ......Enough said !!!!
