I had the same problem two years ago when I bought my tank from ERA. When I mounted it, and it interfered with the MSD distributor, I asked Doug what to do about the problem. He just said he puts a pry bar between the tank and the block and gently 'tweaks' it away until he gets the required clearance. I did just that and although it's close, I've had no problems since.
Although the photo isn't a close up, it shows the relative 'tight squeeze' of the tank and distributor. I'm able to adjust the timing without any problems.

I have the same set and had to make a spacer too, similar to the one in the photos, not a big deal to make.

This is the distance I accomplished

I had the same problem with an Accel distributor and the Header tank. This thread resulted in me finding I had a spacer wedge supplied that wasn't flat, (so had leaked coolant everywhere)

So, just a quick thank you to all those that contributed to this thread some time ago, especially Lineslinger. Inspired, I went out and bought a drill press, and made my own spacer. I now have clearance issues resolved for various connections and can now spin the vacuum advance without scraping the header tank.

Great to have forums like this one!
