Seems like you might need to order the "Clutch Fork-to-Master Cylinder Separation Tool.":LOL:

If there is even the slightest need for that cable drive off the end of my Dremel I'll happily get that... and then offer to check ERA Chas' prostate with it.

I HAVE a Dremel cable drive which I was about to offer for your use...
until this UNFORTUNATE remark.:(

Did someone confirm that the Dremel wheel will actually cut it? I have never seen such hardened steel. I had to have a machine shop chop off the end and reposition the slave rod hole and they even squealed about how hard it was to cut and drill.

Here's where I unsubscribe to this thread.

A Dremel with a diamond tip might get the job done too. There are a lot of different sizes and shapes for just about anything. I got a 50 piece set from Harbor Freight a while back for under $20. Might be easier than a cut off wheel.

I see that Dremel sells a diamond studded wheel, but I'm going to try the reinforced ones first. They also sell tungsten carbide stuff.

Had you been thinking you would have added something to the effect that " while the helmet would not fit, the point on the top is appropriate.":p

I have heard that putting super glue on the cutoff disks makes them less likely to break. May want to give that a try as well.

Dremel has these new fiberglass-reinforced cutoff disks that they say are designed for hardened steel, so I picked up a 20 pack of them. They're made out of depleted uranium or the like:JEKYLHYDE I'll probably start the heavy lifting tomorrow or this weekend, so I'll let you know. I also picked up a tungsten carbide blade as well -- Dremel says it's also suitable for cutting hardened steel.

patrickt 10-22-2010 08:29 AM

Well That Was Easy...

I didn't need the 20 pack of the depleted uranium disks. One did the trick astonishingly well. It was like using a dang plasma cutter. Here, I took a shot 30 seconds (maybe less) in to the cut. The second shot is of the corner entirely removed.

Can you make it look a little nicer? You'll never make it as a sushi chef.

Seriously, take the sharp edges off and round the corners. You don't want cracks to begin. Put a tootsie roll on the Dremel or use the flat face of the cutoff wheel if you have to.

patrickt 10-22-2010 09:22 AM

Alright, alright... I'll clean it up a bit while I'm waiting for the new remote inlet to arrive. Sheeeshhh....
