I didn't want to have to do it twice.

Patrick, you know that job you always wanted at ERA, well, Peter just called and he said he lost your employment application and they don't have any more available.

Might it be smart to "blue" that thing so that it makes it easier to check it periodically for cracks. Or should you be worried about cracking at all?

Uhh, the likelihood of that fork cracking and Peter calling me up to offer me the head mechanic's position at ERA are the same. But I will clean it up with a grinding stone, or maybe even the tungsten carbide bit that I never even opened. Only because I have nothing better to do than crawl under by car and grind on a sharp piece of metal that no one will ever see but that you all have ragged me about....

Don't put this back on us; you know damn good and well you'd never sleep soundly with it looking like that.

Please submit pictures when you are through so we can grade you on the detail of your work. Be sure to have all ten digits showing so we can confirm your manicure is intact and you have suffered no injuries.

Looks quite clean under there. Very nice work, by the way. Curious if you drive this car much?

That's purty. Peter just called back and said he found your employment application. They're be reviewing it shortly.

I put a little over 1,000 miles a year on her -- going in to my fifth year. I don't take her out if it's below the high 50's, or if there's any sort of precipitation called for. From Thanksgiving to Easter I keep her in an air-tight "car bag" with a desiccant -- so for about five months out of the year she's just napping in her bag.

Nicely done. I'm sure you feel much better about yourself for doing it right.

No, I would have been quite comfortable doing a truly half-ass job. It was the cajoling from the gallery that forced me to do a quality job. That, and I know Bob P. is watching and grading me.

If that's a quality job, I'm glad you're not a brain surgeon.

Forget Peter-you can buy his loyalty with a sub with the works on it.

Putnam only watches you because he has to jump to answer every ERA question directed to him, before you do.

It's Ted and Doug you have to fear. If you ever go near there again, they have sworn to bludgeon you to death with a third roll bar after you desecrated the car with the second. They are also puking over the license light housing with five holes in it for your Menudo light show. Can purple neon under the pipes be far behind...
