Dan that looks great. I know it took sometime to get it to look that way. Fullchat, going with the racing FIA look, so it will be all bare inside. Have a couple of FIA cars that I liked interior wise. Also I am looking for a Tailhousing for my Toploader, mine is from a 67 Mustang and the shifter mount is in the wrong area.

Whoa - smooth door insides also. You do have your work cut out for you. Looks like you have a real good start on it though.

It has been a while since my last post. Did not like the way the doors looked even smoothed out with the rivets showing so I made door panels to cover them up. To make it all flush, made an insert panel then an outter door panel. They are bonded to the door. Finished the smoothing of the trunk, hood, and some of the engine compartment where the foot boxes do not hide the engine bay. Looking to send car to paint in a month.....i hope....

I can see you have been busy. That's looking good. What are you going to do around the edges of the sheet metal pieces on the doors - apply seam sealer? You are correct that even if filled over and around, the rivets would eventually reflect through the paint.

Yes Dan, I am using a seam sealer around the edges. Really like how the door is coming out now. Started putting the rear wheel well aluminum panels on. Looks like paint in June. Been fighting the flu so have to take some time off the car. This summer start getting things together to build the engine. Now thats going to be a good break from all this body work stuff...

I chose a combination of original paint scheme & non original colors. I tried to keep a vintage feel. Didn't decide on color till' the last minute.

Phil,
Tremendous progress!
For the aluminum door inserts, what type of finish are you considering? Polished, a random light scratch or some kind of 'grain'. Another thought is a spot finish, like a Bugatti or the nose of the Spirit of St. Louis. Can't say that I have ever seen a spot finish on a Cobra, would be something unique.

Hey Phil - you're at an exciting point. The body looks great. Once it has paint on it you will think you've leaped 10 steps ahead. Are you doing your own painting or do you have someone painting it for you?

Dan, took car in for the paint. My friends nieghbor owns a paint shop, they are blocking and painting car for me. XB-60, yes still going with Viking Blue 1964 race season color scheme with a wimbeldon white stripe. Building a 66 F250 with the same color combo, going to be my tow truck to the track. Tim, Just going with a flat black and satin black finish on the interior. Going to powder coat the dash and roll-bar satin black. Now that cars in shop started doing body work on the truck.... Goodtimes....
