Default Chassis serial number for optional rear suspension retro fitment?

I seem to recall a published ERA s/n after which retro-fitment of the optional outboard brake rear suspension became a bolt-in (sort of) undertaking. I can't find that s/n on the ERA website. Any ideas?

The quickest & surest way to get an answer would be to call Bob or Peter at ERA.

I think the magic number is 575. Prior to that, you have to do this: Retrofitting the ERA rear suspension into a pre-575 Chassis

A sure way to tell with your car is to look at the front mounting point for the lower trailing arms. The real early cars only have one bolt hole, the later cars have two.

The lower trailing arms for the standard rear and the optional rear mount in different locations, thus the need for two holes on the newer cars.

So after 575 it is a total bolt in?
Does the optional outboard brake rear come complete, ready to bolt in? How much? Posi? Choice of gears?
Not sure at all, I thought I remember reading somewhere that you had to have some kind of big brake option and you also had to change out the front brakes?

You can buy the ERA unit in several ways, including a complete, bolt-in assembly. All (normally) come with a limited-slip differential and your choice of gear ratios (3.07-4.11, I think). To go with the larger rear brakes, we strongly recommend the big front brakes.

By the way, I'm pretty sure that all the FIAs will accept the new rear without modifications.

I thought that the outboard era end only came in 3.31 or 3.54? It is a wonderful thing and makes servicing the brakes so much easier. It is a complete assembly. Try to match your rear end ratio to the cam so that you are operating in the engines preferred range. Not all engines like operating at 1500 rpms.

So I guess my next question would be, are these bolt in rears equipped with the big brakes, or is that an option?
Also, what is the price of the rear?

The ERA rear uses 12" rotors and late '90s Corvette/Camaro rear calipers with the emergency brake built in. You'll have to call Peter for a price.

My car has the ERA rear along with the large front brakes. With 15" wheels, you have to get creative with wheel weights on the front or they will contact the calipers. Rears are no problem. Back in 2005, the rear was $4500, $350 for the special rear sway bar, and $1200 for the 12.3" rotor, 4 piston front brake package, but that was during the build and credit might have been applied, not to mention 10 years ago, so it would be best to inquire with Peter. It's a very nice upgrade and that rear is just a work of art.....

I bought my # 571 in 1999 as a turnkey car with the large front brakes and the new rear axle with outer breakes.
