Default Tach problem

Bob, I've got the SW gage setup, and got the MSD tach adapter (PN 8920) to go with my MSD6 ignition. I've been noticing that my tach will drift up or down while holding a steady speed, and as I slow down and speed up, for a given speed the tach reading will vary. Have you run across this before? Would it be more likely to be the tach or the MSD adapter?
Thanks and GREAT product you guys sell!

You don't need the tach adapter in the system. Just use the tach output as shown here.

Hi Bob, I'm going to chime in on this one because my S.W. tach will not read the tach out put from my Crane HI6. I understand the the the tach output splice to orange 40 but the the drawing shows a second tach splice to the red msd wire. What is this wire so I can translate to the Crane and what does it splice to on the S.W. tach? Maybe I will need a tach adapter from Crane-same part#- but I'd like to try this first. Thanks for all your previos advice and help.

Nevermind, I believe the W-40 is the ign. signal to the box which is the same as my unit but this configuration does not operate my tach so I guess I'll be ordering an adaptor. Thanks anyway
