What does the red light (beside the ignition key) indicate? My occassionally comes on when I am on the brakes and the RPMs are dropping. After the car stops and the engine is at idle the light will go out.
Here is my opinion ;
There are two possibilities .
1. Can be your charging system ( battery not charging at low RPM)
2. Can be the light connected to the Master break cylinder (Brake fluid level too low)
Early cars used a switch in the brake reservoir cap that indicated low fluid.
Later cars have a system that shows when there is brake pressure at one end of the car but no pressure at the other. Sometimes a defective brake light switch will do this too.
Bob,
My red light used to come on and now it finally stopped. If the bulb is not burned out, does it make sense for it to have fixed itself, or does it mean something else?
