Default News on slabside #3014

Lots of progress since my visit over the Fourth of July week. Chassis is now done and ready for powder coat, and body is well along too. Time to start thinking about colors!

Update: chassis powdercoat was completed before the holidays, and now the body is on and floors/trunk are in. Time to get the specifics of the paint job ironed out!

What are your paint plans? Are you using Brandon or Conn. Customs?

Evan: still need to choose which painter. Seems like the ERA community has had really great outcomes from both.

John: thanks for the encouragement! I'd love to get exposure to some pictures of #3010 since our cars will be similar. I'm especially interested to learn about your approach to specifying the color. I'm interested in replicating the Vineyard Green from the original cars, but practically speaking that means choosing a shade of BRG. Feel free to PM me if you've willing to share some pics and if you have a preferred means of doing so.

March update:

Hood, doors, and deck lid fitted. Peter tells me that it'll be ready to go out for paint after a few final steps once the guys get free to work on it for a few days.

May update: car is at Brandon's for paint, and short block parts are going to the machine shop today.

fintubi,

My Slabside was painted by Brandon. Extremely pleased with all aspects of the job. Have received many compliments. Certain you will be pleased.

Best,

John

I want to see a few differences in the block, ie: all sharp edges broken, drainbacks smoothed out etc, won't take much.

Yep - I agree, Gary. This is fresh out of the box before final bore/hone and prep for assembly.

Quick update on #3014:

- car is back at ERA after paint by Brandon (photos)

- engine block machining done; assembly underway but hampered by a parts problem (rod big-end housing bores were way out of round). Replacement rods en route.

B,
We need to get the siblings together when they're complete--hopefully this year!

Beautiful color - love the green street roadsters. Slabside especially looks great in green.
