I see some goofball put a lowball bid on it already. ;)

This one is bringing serious money. Feel lucky to have one.

The bid is currently at $100,289 with 1 day to go.

The car has some really nice details, but for that kind of money I think the engine compartment details should be nicer, like a more period correct looking engine with weber carbs.

It used to be that if you could cut a six figure check you could get ERA to build you exactly what you wanted, exactly to your tastes and get it dropped off at your doorstep, on a reasonable schedule, and Peter would throw in a free ERA Christmas ornament. No more. Apparently now, if an ERA comes on the market that is exactly what you want, you have to hop on it. That car may very well be exactly what somebody wants, or pretty darn close. And whether they pay $75k, $100k, or $125k doesn't matter as much as it used to.

Over 100k now....

Sargie 02-09-2023 03:03 PM

Kind of hard to ignore a number over a $100k. That would certainly have my attention.

Alfa02 02-09-2023 03:55 PM

I will venture to say $137,500 unless two or three people REALLY want it, then
Sky's the Limit..... 200K ??? remember the FFR that sold for $137,000 @ B-J 2-weeks ago. Cheers Tom.

If you made the money, you get to piss the money away in any direction you choose. If you don't, your kids will... and they'll never appreciate how hard you had to work and scheme to make that kind of dough to begin with.

The one thing I noticed that was the owner changed out the mounting brackets on the Flaming River rack with milled blocks of aluminum. I can't tell whether there's a rubber or poly bushing between it and the rack. I have the identical ERA customized rack on mine and had trouble with the original rubber bushings tearing. I bet he had the same problem. I finally was able to find a poly bushing that holds up but I'd be curious as to whether his fix created any noticeable feel on the wheel. Big ass pic below from his car, not mine.

Yeah, but with today's shortages I just don't know if you could even get one made now in any realistic time frame.

Patrick,

I have done aluminum brackets on race cars. It is the best way to go to minimize shifting of the rack or sway bars. Of course it is also stiffer which may not be what someone wants on a street car. For each benefit, there is a detriment. Poly bushings are a nice in-between.

The steering rack on ERA cars is kind of interesting. If you have a car earlier than #758 (for the 427 cars) then you have either an old Subaru rack or a modified Flaming River rack that has been milled down to fit Subaru sized brackets. Bob has a box of the rubber bushings that fit, but they had a tendency to tear on my car and, after replacing them a couple of times, I started hunting for a poly bushing that had the right dimensions for the driver's side bushing that was tearing. I finally found a poly Whiteline KSR-202 that had one of the bushings in that kit with the right dimensions. Nobody makes direct poly switchouts for the original Subaru bushings as they are rather obscure. At least Whiteline was kind of enough to have posted their exact dimensions for all of their stuff so I was able to find one that fit right. So far the poly bushing is holding up nicely.

This is #671... Is it the Subaru rack probably ?

Yes, that is a Flaming River rack, with modified tie rods, that is milled down around the bracket area to fit the slots so it has the same dimensions of the old Subaru rack. If you look at the rubber bushing on your left picture side (the passenger side) it looks like it might be splitting some. Here are two vids of before and after I changed out mine -- with dial gauge attached. If you bitc* at Bob he'll send you new ones on the house.
