Small Block ERA wanted. Either body considered.

Hello,
I am interested in a ERA 289 Slab or FIA - Located closer to the east.
Serious buyer. I am not a car dealer. Just an addict.

Thanks

There's an ERA FIA on Bring A Trailer at the moment.

Located in Seattle though.

My feelings, it's a really nice car, but really set up more for the track, then the street. This may have stopped a few people from bidding any higher.

And that FIA's $63K selling price was only $9K more that a FFR with a "vaulted" Roush engine. Scheeesh

Really? The one that just sold today for $63,000 seemed more street oriented with the under-car rear exiting exhaust, no hood scoop and the standard rear end with in-board brakes. There was no video posted for the current auction and only a cold start video from its prior auction.

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1964-era-cobra-4/

Now the ERA FIA that sold on 9/1/2022 on BaT for $72,000, that seemed like a track car.

That has some nice details, but you would think with if you are trying to get the details right that you would have a period correct looking engine too.

I doubt they will get anywhere near that asking price.

That FFR did not hit its reserve. ;)

The problem with bring a trailer, distance to inspect the cars.
Everything looks great in pics, but I will never buy another car without putting my eyeballs on it. Flying to to the West coast to see ONE Cobra?
I would not have built a black car, as nice as the last few were in black.

I am willing to travel, but not that far for a car that is far from a color or options I would pick. Additionally, If the car is the color and setup I specked out with Peter, I will travel further. There is so many variants that have been built, everyone has a vision of their favorite. So there is a wide range of differences in evey build.

I believe there is an ERA on the East Coast, closer to me. If I am patient. Most of the collectable cars I have purchased have usually been word of mouth or forums such as this. That has worked best for specialty cars for me.

My fault for not posting the link to the original black car I was speaking with
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/40...d-era-289-fia/

vs the one that sold yesterday. Same goes for the dropped wording thanks to posting from my Iphone.

Sorry for the confusion

Perhaps posting exactly what you are looking for, so as to not waste others time, might be a better solution.

Color combination desired
Street vs comp dash
Options
etc

What I prefer and what is available, with so many variants?
I suppose I could post the excel spread sheet Peter did for my build 2 years ago, unfortunately I had a serious accident and put it on hold.
This happened 2 times to me. Once neck, then hand operations.
Now a 2 year wait.
But if my post is too vague for someone. Sorry
Blue, Red, Silver maybe. Drop dash, FIA, depends on the overall look. Roudels, no roundels, stripes no stripes. Depends on the car.
The reason I put both styles is I am open minded to a point. All these cars are custom, and there is more combos than I could pinpoint as a USED buyer.
I doubt I will find my EXACT build.

It always boils down to wants and needs. For me, I always want the top options, heater, wipers, top, dropped floors, proper FIA knock off wheels, on top that if I can get the optional ERA comp rear with the outboard brakes, even better. Colors can always be redone to suit your specific tastes, just make sure you budget $8,000+ for a color, without stripes.

I have all that and more on my current FIA, color has grown on me, but in the back of my head, I still think a guardsman blue or viking blue would make it stand out a little more. As an ex-bodyshop owner, I've yet to decide on whether to leave the tri stage white pearl, or strip and repaint. For now, I'll continue to drive it with a smile on my face.

@Beretta, just another reason to be here, I was looking last year for a wide body, small block, though word of mouth, there was a "Nice" one in Az. with the specs. I was looking for, long story short, I brought it with pictures and conversations with me from Club Members in Az. Karl & Scotty (A BIG Thanks to you guys) they happily went out and put "Eyes" on the Cobra, couldn't be happier with the purchase :) For Larry (Seller) & Buyer (Me) it worked out great, he didn't have to advertise, and I was given his Best Price, WIN WIN! I too have gone out and put eyes on a Cobra here in WA state for club members, it's what we do for each other. Just ask we're here for you, Cheers Tom.

Narrowing down my preferences for a used car. As requested.
On my order spread sheet done by Peter in 2020, (health issues at the time killed all activity and decision making)
FIA - oil cooler delete. I doubt I'll find one, but I do know they had done at least a few.
Street seats, drop dash, Pinned knock offs, solid color Blue.
In the used market I would look for Blue, Red, Maroon - Cranberry.
Possibly Silver or Gray
Outboard brake rear would be great.
I don't NEED an ultra race engine or Webers. Been there.
Just has to be crisp.
Hope that clears it up.
To those that sent a few leads .. Thanks!

Still Looking!
