Not an FE, but a small block 427 Cleavor. The knockoffs are rather different too.

The hood scoop is definitely "unique". I wonder if ERA sells a hood with the scoop that’s on CSX3015, the “Super Snake”, twin super charged 427 Cobra. And if they do, I wonder if it would fit on this car over the tall intake/air cleaner setup. That hood scoop might look cool on this car.

It sold at Barrett-Jackson back in October for $42,900, which seems like a bargain. But then again, it is not your typical ERA.

Perhaps it can be had for a bargain on BaT in a couple of days?

DanEC 01-29-2023 05:29 AM

I can’t help but think it must have the front bumper hoop mounted upside down. Some strange choices of parts on the car for an ERA. Not doing well in the bidding the last time I checked. I wonder what the hoses are running up the inside wall of the foot box behind the pedals - brake and clutch reservoir lines to the master cylinders?

DanEC 01-29-2023 05:55 AM

Sold for $43,000. Not very high for an ERA but seems to be a consensus on what it’s worth.

KarlzEE Bebout 01-29-2023 08:43 AM

I'm thinking that if the seller would have spent a few thousand dollars to change out the intake and hood scoop that he probably would have gotten a MUCH higher price. Maybe the newest owner will do just that or maybe he'll just drive and enjoy the car. I am just a bit ERA biased. :)

Mr. Bebout

Karlos, that what you get, for putting a "Chevy" motor, in something that was never meant to be there, I believe you know something about that :LOL::LOL: Cheers Buddy Boy, TommyRot

When I first saw the auction, I was thinking I definitely didn't like the hood scoop. And I initially was thinking I did't like wheels, the bumpers, the steering wheel, the round tail lights and a few other things. But after a few days, I was thinking the one thing that I didn't not like was still the hood scoop. The wheels and other stuff would be fine. I put in a couple of bids on the last day, but figured that I would most likely need to bid in the last couple of minutes if I really wanted it. I was still thinking, I wonder if I could somehow get a "Super Snake" hood for it and hope it could fit over the engine. I had BaT open for the end of the auction thinking maybe I could get a bargain price ERA, but decided not to bid more in the end.

You made a smart move in my opinion....Yes its an ERA but lots of little things just not right in my gut about it, some bigger then others but in the end its a car that would take 20K to get to a happy place...Heat shield on the back of the hood for one made me do a WTF !
The fix/Change list was just to big

KarlzEE Bebout 01-29-2023 07:54 PM

Well MISTER TommyRot. I most certainly did have a RAT MOTOR in my first Cobra and absolutely loved it's "world coming to an end" stump pulling power. I'd drive 75 miles to a drag strip, crank off some 10.70's and then drive back home on my street radial tires. It went in a straight line just fine but curves...not so much. My cute little 289FIA is much more reasonable, comfortable, and a little more refined (for a Cobra). I've got almost 90K miles on its teeny engine and still puts a smile on my face, just not the sheer terror I'd loved before.

Interesting the bid for Barrett Jackson and this auction were only $100 apart.

Alfa02 01-30-2023 12:17 PM

I never pass up a chance to jerk Mr. Bebout Chain ;) Now everything is right in the world. Cheers Mr. TommyRot :)

Yes, gravity fed non pressurized brake fluid supply lines from the reservoir to the master cylinders under the car, but they are supposed to be under the carpets, not on top. One of my refresh jobs i am doing to my car.

Anybody recognize the brand of tires on that thing ? I’m needing a new set in the spring.

Those look like the videos recorded for the BaT auction.

Or, how to butcher an ERA and get bottom dollar for it.

Good lord what a POS.

I guess I'm in the minority here. I think the goofy looking hood and intake that causes the need for the goofy hood are easily cured. I'm sure with a decent explanation and proof that you own the car, ERA would be willing to make and ship another hood for the new owner at resonable cost. If not then someone like Mr. Bruce could do the same. Once you do that, the other oddities are cheap and easy to sort out. That stuff being rectified, it's a decent ERA at likely a very reasonable price.
