Default Side Window & Sun Visor Hardware

Bob:

I need to have all of the hardware that connects the side windows and sun visors to the windshield re-chromed or replaced. Do you have that hardware for sale? Price?

Also, I'm currently arranging to have the vent on top of the hood re-painted - someone painted the rivets is one issue - are the rivets easily replaced locally or are they an item that you stock?

Thanks

The rivets are standard aluminum/aluminum like McMaster Carr 97447A125. You'll also need backup washers 90183A213. Just ask Bryan for a package...

Please direct all parts inquires to Bryan at bryanatera@sbcglobal.net

Thanks. The following email has been forwarded:

New Parts Guy:
I ran over a metal gate stop, slicing out abour a 4 inch section of the very buttom of the front end and damaging the oil cooler that is right behind that section.

Do you have a replacement oil cooler in stock? Also, what are the option on "replacing" the section of fiberglass that was sliced off? Do you have a "section" of fiberglass that is already molded to replace that area or is it something that a local body shop needs to re-create?

If you have this items, please email me with the cost, including shipping to Kingman, AZ 86401. I have ERA #91.

I also called a few minutes ago, got a guy in parts but he had no idea how much the 10 or 14 row oil coolers cost, transferring me to someone else - I left a message to please reply to my email, especially concerning the fiberglass issue.

I'm going to count my rows first, as finishline.com sells a 16 row oil cooler.

I must add that finishline.com is a lot better at dealing with Cobra parts, versus ERA - communication wise. But, of course, I need to end up with the right part!

It would stand to reason that Finish Line might be easier to deal with. "Parts" is ALL they do!

bet you could buy a Ford quicker than you could buy a "part" for a Ford!

I see your point, but I'll take that bet, as I'm thinking that a Ford part would also be easy to buy as someone is normally standing around waiting for you to buy parts. I'm thinking that ERA does not have a parts guy, at all, and very little interest in selling parts. It's not like I'm looking for a deal on a part, just the part.

You would do well to purchase your oil cooler and replacement body part from ERA. The parts will surely fit correctly.

I wouldn't underestimate the business ERA does in spare parts.

Take a run up to Detroit and go into the Ford plant and try to buy a fan belt for your Taurus. I'd bet you would have to wait a while for them to get you one.

The following is lifted directly from the ERA FAQ's page on their website. I don't think ERA would refuse anyone who needed something & in fact I believe that the enjoy helping out where they can. I, however, tend to believe that they do not intend to become a parts depot. Please correct me if I'm wrong...

Do you sell parts to the retail aftermarket?

Not currently. We only service ERA cars and customers' needs. Here are several companies that do:

Ken's Specialty Auto (315-793-0639
Finish Line (888-436-9113 or 954-436-9101 - FL and Int'l)
Cobra Restorers (770-427-0070)
Brooklands (305-776-2748)
Nisonger (914-381-1952)
Shell Valley (800-356-9198)
Operations Plus

Oh, ERA does parts, but it's a strange trip to get the parts.

Good point about parts that "fit".

Finish Line is great, but not all the parts they sell fit all the Cobras out there!

Want to be sure? Take a little more time and get it from ERA.

You think you could actually get a fan belt at the the Ford factory? I don't know man, better bring a chair with you, might be a wait.

Ernie:

The great thing about finishline.com is that Paula stated that I should go to ERA as their cooler is 16 rows - way more than mine. Those are great people to deal with at finishline.com.

I've changed my mine about parts, giving full consideration to the fact that ERA is the factory, not just a retail parts outlet. I'm going to order from them today, e.g. put myself through the parts ordering process.

Edit:
Oil Cooler has been ordered - the experience was not so bad, but it would be nice if ERA accepted credit cards.

Cobra etal:

I've been dealing with ERA for almost 20 years... The "parts guy" Fernando, is new and he's still at that point that when someone asks for a specific part price he has to turn and ask Peter "How many Pintos"* No excuse... it's just the way it is up there. So, when I order something, I don't ask what the price is... when you need it, it is what it is.

Jim

PS: "Pintos" a unit of measure = $200.00, the price of one of Peter's early used transportation applicances that cost him $200.00. As in "That oil coller will cost you 2 Pintos." etc.

I have ordered parts from ERA on more than one occasion and am constantly amazed how quickly I get what I need. Ask and ye shall receive. But I agree with Jim, I don't ever ask what it costs, I just pay the bill when it arrives, and I'm usually pleasantly surprised. Now if I can only get Peter to give me a sweetheart of a deal of an ERA rear and a soft top

Opps - I did ask what it costs, but the answer was a little vague, due to shipping, so I'll see when the part arrives.

What engine is in your ERA?
