Default Side Pipe Hole

I discovered a hole in one of my side pipes, just in back of the muffler, at the bottom - you cannot see it unless you look under the car. The side pipe orinigal ERA steel, painted white, so touch up is easy (unfortunately, also frequent). Is this something that a muffler shop can repair? The side pipe looks OK and I'd hate to have to replace it.

Input would be appreciated.

Thanks.

How big is the hole? If its a pin hole a simple weld job would fill it. If it's more than that it may need a patch piece but either way a muffler shop should be able to take care of fairly quick.

That's funny as my old ERA had the same hole in the same place. I used some muffler mender that I bought at Pep Boys. It was a one part paste in a tube. Smeared it over the hole and let it harden. Sanded it down and repainted it white and it's still on the road working great.

Could it be there to let water drain?

Interesting - large hole, one side only - perhaps something about ERA causes that to happen. I like your solution.

PS: I purchased some muffler mender, applied it, sanded it - it worked well.
