Default FIA Shift Handle

A few years ago we built car 2078 and used the shifter handle offered from ERA. I was just wondering if a shorter version is offered for a more original look. The transmission is the Tremec TKO. I realize the current handle could be cut down, welded, and chromed but it would just be easier to buy a new one.

Thanks
Glenn

Default Shift Lever

Glenn,

The short answer is YES. This was an issue for me also when I bought #2095. I have copied a picture of my interior with the shorter shift lever. I had access to an original 289 and measured the height of the lever. I called Peter and he said he would make it happen. This one is correct. Call Doug or Peter, they can get you the right one.

Hyde, I never felt the longer shifter so it's hard to compare. But shifting is NO problem at all with the short shifter. I also reversed the TKO 500 shift plate on the transmission and moved the shift lever position fwd about 2.5 inches. Makes for a really nice setup. The picture below shows the short shift lever and the reversible plate. (however, picture was before the plate was actually reversed, but you can see the potential fwd movement.) The final position is shown in the picture of my interior in my previous post.

Interesting. I had to modify my mount a little cause I drilled the hole in the tunnel about an inch too far back. One of those "I swear I measured it right!" things.... Actually spent about 20 minutes trying to get it right the first time, I was still wrong Everything turned out good though. The alignment is right on now & everything feels good.
